We love spending time in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Jennifer regularly runs on the trails of Elena Gallegos Open Space (recently named a "Rave Run" by Runner's World Magazine), and we love to bring the kids up to the trails for hikes and picnics.
Jennifer's parents come and stay in Albuquerque for two months every winter, so we wanted to find a home for them to use during their stay. For the other ten months of the year, we decided to rent out the home for short-term rentals to give other travelers like Jen's parents the ability to experience the beauty of Albuquerque and the surrounding Southwest.
There is really nothing like walking out your front door and gazing upon the Sandia Mountains at any time of the day, but especially at sunset when the mountains turn a watermelon pink (hence, their name: "sandia" is Spanish for watermelon).
