Great location, beautiful grounds and amenities, but the actual house, meh! Paid a lot of money for our stay, not a hotel, but a Vacation Rental from an owner. Staying in someone’s house, we presumed would have some level of personality, friendliness some Aloha Spirit! Not here. 2 rolls of toilet paper, one in each bathroom, for 6 weary travelers barely got us through to the first morning. Salt and Pepper, a little coffee until you make it to a grocery store? Nope. Fresh fruit, anything resembling a remotely friendly way to show appreciation for the good sum of money spent, and a warm welcome to your home for the next week? Nope. I spent a large amount on a “cleaning fee”. Basically a week worth of wages. Anything less than immaculate at that price, you’re getting hosed. The place wasn’t gross, but there was hair on the mirror, sand on the floor and don’t look under the beds. Not “large cleaning fee” clean. The kitchen counters badly need replacing, the furniture needs updating and the whole place could use a thorough deep cleaning. The house served our needs and we really did enjoy our stay, but with even a little effort, this place could be so much better. It was evident from walking through the door that this rental is solely for making as much money as possible by putting in the least effort possible. No personality, no welcome to the Islands, zero Aloha Spirit! Capitalism at its worst. Might as well of stayed at a hotel. At least my sheets and towels would have been cleaned, and we wouldn’t run out of toilet paper.
