A perfect getaway close to Sydney!

Our stay was absolutely incredible—everything you could dream of in a holiday escape. The backyard opens to a beautiful flowing creek, there’s a full-size tennis court, and the resort-style swimming pool made every day feel luxurious. It was hands down one of the most relaxing holidays we’ve ever had. The host was exceptionally warm and easy to communicate with, which made everything smooth and stress-free. It’s hard to believe a place like this exists just an hour from Sydney!

Good getaway for multi-family groups

Great location with private block, large house with ensuites to all bedrooms and plenty of living areas. Nice big kitchen and 2 fridges. Enjoyed using the pool and tennis court. However the property is getting a little old and tired and in need of maintenance here and there.

Great big house with 6 bedrooms

Comfortable spacious house with 6 bedrooms, tennis court, under cover pool and some outdoor space to wander. It is a little run down but most things worked.

Family Get Away

Amazing location with great facilities! Close to Terrigal and other hubs of the Central Coast. Tennis court was a winner and so much space. Check in process with Mel was fantastic and very accomodating of check in and check out times.

What an amazing house and location for a weekend away

Had a friends reunion at this fabulous house. So great that each bedroom has a bathroom. So much space for everyone and set in a gorgeous location. Highly recommend a sports day on the tennis courts using the sports equipment there. A lot of fun!!

Rooms were generous size, great central heating system, clean linens and towels. Every room has an ensuite which was appreciated. Great space to fit an extended family with privacy. Lovely wood fireplace inside and makedo pit outside (couldn’t find the one on the river). Tennis court was a hit with kids for both tennis and scooting. Lost a star because of the cleanliness - there was mould in tile grout in bathrooms, mould/flaking bathroom ceilings, dust on many surfaces, all fans were dirty, gross oven, old pans flaking non-stick coating, gross stovetop fan, rusty BBQ unusable. Some dirty crockery. Dishwasher failed whilst there and a leaky bathroom dripped into lounge room. Kitchen utensils had an oversupply of tongs and undersupply of a single wooden spoon. General garden tidy up, clean gutters, and blow balconies required.

We had a very enjoyable stay, made all the better by the new renovations. The new kitchen, dinning area is very well planned. Upstairs the wooden floors make a big difference. It’s an old house and the bathrooms, could do with a few hanging hooks in the showers. As could the bedrooms. Mel the property manager made our stay very pleasant .

An amazing house for large groups

The house was perfect! We were 19 people and it was incredibly comfortable for sleeping, eating and enjoying. There is plenty of plates and cutlery etc which I know can be tricky sometimes with such big groups. The house was secluded, surrounded by trees and with plenty of space to enjoy. The tennis court and pool are awesome, even in the winter the cold plunge was refreshing! Would absolutely recommend this house and the team that run it are lovely and super helpful. Went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after and had everything we needed. Thanks!

Broken

Super disappointed by the state of this property. While we had an enjoyable time, the state of the property cannot be described as anything except dismal (& dangerous). Black mould on the roof and in various places, the roof in the outside dining area is literally falling down, a timber beam without any support could have badly injured someone. The bins were already full to the brim when we arrived so we had to spend time ensuring our rubbish was tidy enough to leave. The cane chair by the pool was so wonky and unstable. A massive dog poo right at the front of the house that one guest was unlucky enough to step on as she arrived. The roof of the pool was broken and the grass hadn’t been mown, but I did receive a message on the day of our arrival to explain that planned maintenance had been rescheduled. Spending even just a few hundred dollars on the property could make a huge difference. Communication and check in instructions were great, but the actual property is nothing like the photos, it is very old and unkept.

Good for large groups but lower your expectations

My friends and I stayed at Cockle Bay mansion for a hens weekend getaway. Julia was helpful and easy to communicate with, and the check in process was smooth. However, we were very disappointed with the state of the house itself. The first thing we saw on arrival was a muddy excavation site with an abandoned bulldozer in the front yard. The house was grimy, and the cleaner had completely forgotten to clean the outdoor area. There was obviously a party before us as there were chairs strewn all over the tennis court, dirty floors and cigarette butts around the pool. We had to clean it before our guests arrived. The oven didn’t work, as did many of the lights inside the house. Some of the bathrooms had a sewerage smell. Julia was very apologetic and explained their normal cleaner was away and said she would refund us some of the cleaning fee. She also let us use the oven in the adjoining house. Although we ended up having a great weekend I think that there is a lot of room for improvement. It’s a good set up for parties and large group getaways, but for the price we paid we had higher expections.

Fantastic property!

The property was dated but very clean and great facilities. Plenty of space for large groups, tennis court and pool are fantastic additions. Only downside is the pool is not heated. Owner is great to communicate with and extremely responsive.

Great covered pool and covered eating area

We had our very large family stay and we had a great time. The covered pool was great and the kids spent a lot time in the pool while we relaxed and watched. There is an awesome covered eating area so the whole family could sit and eat together. We have many games of tennis and one on one basketball. The house is starting to show it's age but having a bathroom off every bedroom is great. Just remember to put the late nighters in the room downstairs as that is the only toilet on the ground floor. Overall the location is great and wonderful for a large family particularly if you have kids.
