A private, green and peaceful retreat on the waterway, hidden away in Central London with easy access public transport. A BBQ, hammock and a little rowboat are available in good weather.
We aim to provide everything to make your stay original, cosy and relaxing. This is a comfortable, secluded retreat on the canal, with easy access to the city's lively neighbourhoods. We offer complete privacy with a locked gatehouse, no overlooking boats and no public access to the mooring: it's an oasis of nature, luminosity and calm right in the heart of the city.
With shops, restaurants and local transport close by at Kings Cross and Islington, this fully-equipped widebeam houseboat has everything you'll need to discover life on the water and enjoy an original stay in London!

It was like staying in someone's home. Hosts are very kind people. We had a lovely time. If you need luxury and using chemical toilets bothers you, this stay is not for you. If waking up in a comfortable, convenient, and beautiful location on the water is more important to you, then you will like staying on the Galatee!

Not the 5 stars that is advertised

A great location and lovely surroundings however the houseboat advertised as 5stars is a complete let down. We found there was little space left for us to feel welcome. The whole place is full of the owner properties (clothes, shoes, food, toiletries) every cupboard, drawers are full with their belongings. The living space is not clean, the beds very uncomfortable and the kitchen greasy to the point we didn’t want to use it, no hairdryer the experience was very disappointing considering the price we paid, we wouldn’t recommend it on that basis.

Unique experience

We enjoyed our stay on the canal boat. Simon and Sarah were easy to communicate with and were very accommodating when we needed something. The proximity of the boat was within walking distance to many pubs and restaurants, shops, bus stops, and the Kings Cross/St. Pancras train stations. We felt safe in the neighborhood. If given the chance again, we would definitely stay there.

London Oasis

Our family loved our stay. Such a gem. The home/boat is so close to everything, yet the private mooring with all the trees and vegetation makes you forget your in the city. Loved sitting in the wheel house with our morning coffee watching the city come to life across the canal. Or rest with wine after a busy day. We adored the eclectic and quirky feel of the well lived in and much loved boat. Keep in mind that this is a self contained riverboat and if you’re looking for 5 star Ritz accommodations, this might not be for you. But if you’re looking for a unique experience, comfortable and spacious accommodations provided by lovely down to earth hosts, then I would highly recommend. The 10 min walk along the tow path to Kings cross station was such a great way to start a day of exploring the sites of London. I can’t stress enough how much we loved listening to the birds and rustle of the leaves while watching the activity across the canal and knowing this peaceful oasis was just minutes from everything we needed. Thank you, Sarah and Simon, for sharing your home with us.

Liebe Sarah, lieber Simon euer Hausboot ist die außergewöhnlichste, tollste, fantastischste Unterkunft die wir erleben durften ! Die einzigartige Lage inmitten von London und die Wahnsinns Ausstattung von dem Boot ließen keine Wünsche offen ! Es war uns eine Ehre Euch kennengelernt zu haben und hoffen sehr wieder kommen zu dürfen ❤️

Houseboat in Central London - What an Experience

Living on a houseboat is an experience in itself, but to also combine it with being in Central London - FANTASTIC. The owners are fantastic. All communication accurate and complete. They were also very supportive in showing us all the ins and outs of living on a houseboat. The accommodations were perfect for our family of 3. Spacious and comfortable. All amenities typical of an hotel stay were supplied and more! Additional kitchen and food supplies were provided, which is great for that first day there, not knowing the area and grocery stores. The location is quiet and secure, yet just a 10-15 minutes walk to Kings Cross. Great Location
