It all started with my great-great grandfather, Hans Henry Peterson, who immigrated from Germany in 1880 and homesteaded a portion of the land that eventually became the family ranch where I grew up. Hans was known locally as the “Sauerkraut King” for his particular sauerkraut, which he cooked with his specific recipe from all of the harvested cabbage! The barrels of sauerkraut were hauled to butcher shops by horse and wagon. From these humble beginnings, he and his children, and theirs, on down to my parents, and the thirteen of us who are their children, built up what is today a successful, multi-generational working ranch. My mother and each of my twelve siblings and their families still live close by!
My husband, Russ, and I built our own beautiful home where we did so we could raise our children and enjoy all the area has to offer, and still be near our large extended family. We have had so many memorable family gatherings around skiing, hiking, fishing, picnicking, snowmobiling, hunting, horseback riding, exploring ghost towns, and following scenic routes on drives that yield one breathtaking view after another. We want to keep our home in our family, and also share its beautiful sunsets and homey atmosphere with those special people who wish to come be our guests here and enjoy our little corner of the world.
