Bill - we do thank you for choosing Birchwood for your cottage getaway. Our units are cleaned to CDC / BOH guidelines, but if something was not up to par with your standards, we hoped you would reach out to us or our onsite caretakers immediately, and we could have had our cleaning company come back immediately to rectify the situation. As is listed in our VRBO unit description and email instructions / reminders - unit #2 is an efficiency unit (with no stove), we state this specifically, so no renters are surprised upon arrival that they do not have a full kitchen in this unit. We also state clearly that sheets and towels are not provided and need to be brought in. As far as the CO detector - we have the NYS fire and safety inspection every year (and pass), the CO detectors are placed exactly where they should be, as indicated by our inspector. Since carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air, and also because it may be found with warm rising air - it is to be placed on a wall at least 5 feet above the floor, or on the ceiling. We do hope overall you enjoyed your mountain lake getaway in the midst of these trying times. Thank you!
