My wife (Molly) and I (Craig), along with our 2 girls, Scarlett (11 years-old) and Indigo (8 years-old), purchased this resort in December 2013 and set about completely renovating it at once. We have poured thousands of man hours into Alaya Escape and a great deal of resources towards getting it to where it currently is. The hard work is paying off with our reviews being consistently very high and the feedback we receive generally glowing. Enhancements that we have created included the planting of thousands of plants, multiple various clumping bamboo species, fruit trees, landscaping, authentic Balinese-themed statues, furniture and ornaments and a range of other enticing features and changes. Structurally, we have built 2 incredible rooms overlooking the pool and gardens (Legian & Seminyak rooms), as well as completely renovating the interiors of the 2 existing bungalows (Ubud and Nusa Dua rooms) with new bamboo flooring, paint, furniture and decor, added a Canadian hot rocks sauna near our fish pond, a Yoga and training room for retreats and an outdoor Floatation Tank room (Sensory Deprivation Tank) near our Bali pavilions. Additionally, we have created a self-service bar area and a library area for taking time out and listening to the running water features, pool waterfall, tropical birds and the rustling of the mountain breezes. All designed to enhance the casual and comfortable feel of our retreat and to also offer freedom, trust and autonomy to our guests who we very much want to feel at home here.
It is an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to provide a space for people to get back to being Human Beings (rather than "Human Doings") and following our '4 R's' of Relaxing, Reconnecting, Renewing and Recharging! Alaya Escape is an opportunity which we feel incredibly grateful for and it has been a bonus that we have made so many enduring friendships with people who have stayed here. It still amazes me and makes me feel incredibly proud. Craig
