We have been staying at Village By The Beach for 8 years. We have always had a completely perfect experience. This year was definitely not perfect. A few things put a damper on our time in Corpus Christi. 1. We were not allowed to check in until 6:20 pm, more than 2 hours after the promised time. That may not seem like a big deal to some but with 3 young children, it totally messed up the rhythm of our first day. It delayed our grocery trip. It delayed having a place to unload our stuff and use the restroom after a 7hr drive. We couldn't even sneak into the pool without our keys. It basically took away the first afternoon of our trip. We were told that cleaning crews were running behind due to high capacity. I call BS on that. There are only so many units. In the summer, on peak days, it should be ASSUMED that they will be high turnover and there should be staff on hand to manage it. And don't tell me that staff was low because of covid aftermath because we traveled last summer in the peak of covid and were allowed to check in on time. In the 8 years we have been visiting this property, we have NEVER been asked to check in late. In fact, most years we have been given EARLY check-in. This is mismanagement and started our vacation off on the wrong foot.2. When we were allowed to check-in, one of the bunk beds was completely stripped without any linens on it. The clean linens were there, just laying on the bed. So, I got the fun experience of climbing up to the top bunk to make a bed within minutes of checking in. Lovely. I understand that maybe they were doing that to save time because cleaning crews were so behind, but it would have taken a really quick check on our reservations to see we had 3 children and would need all three beds made. Another missed opportunity.3. The wifi didn't work beyond day 1. Not at all. Not having wifi for devices during downtime was annoying. Also, our kitchen sink wasn't functional the last 2 days.
