Swim, fish, have fun at the sandbar & cruise the lake! Sleeps 8!

The Pontoon is included in the daily rate from Labor day to Memorial Day & can be added before / after for an additional fee.

The Sunset Cottage is ideally located on Chapman Lake facing West overlooking the entire lake. You can swim right off the seawall as the sandy area is an ideal location for all sorts of water fun! The water depth is about 18” and it slowly tapers off to deeper water. The swimming area is quite large so bring a chair or floaty and have hours of endless fun whether you are young or young at heart. There are 2 sandbars on Big Chapman with shallow areas ranging from 1’ - waist deep. Tie up and have a great time! In the evening, sit around the campfire (firewood is included!), make s’mores & most importantly memories that will last a lifetime. No smoking or pets.

Pontoon information: WE HAVE A NEW PONTOON THIS YEAR!!

The Pontoon is included in the daily rate from Labor day to Memorial Day & can be added before / after for an additional fee.

2025 Bennington 20SSR. It is 20’ in length with a 115 HP Yamaha motor. Maximum Capacities: 10 persons or 1400 lbs. Permitted use from Dawn to Dusk. The pontoon is exclusive to the Cottage. A tubbing package can be added for $69 which includes 1, 2-person tube. (Refer to contract for all rules / regulations / requirements)

The home is located lakeside with a built-in channel so your friends or family can pick you up to enjoy the sandbar or tie up your own pontoon or I/O boat. There is a public boat launch on the Southeast side of Chapman Lake.

Check-in: 3 p.m. EST (earlier check-in at 11 a.m. for $99 might be available, please inquire if interested)

The property has 3 bedrooms; 1 queen bed, 1 twin trundle bed (each are twin size) and bunk beds (each are full size) and 1 bathroom; Sleeps 8. Amenities include: Central A/C, Cable TV and Wifi via YouTube TV, Ceiling fan in the living room, Weber Propane grill on the deck, Campfire (wood is included for free!), a small portable slide, Corn hole, 1 Stand Up Paddle Board (11'2' long), Paddle Boat, and other miscellaneous water toys / floats.

Located on Chapman Lake, an all-sports lake that is connected to Little Chapman Lake which offers a slower pace. The spring-fed lakes comprise a total of 638 acres.

Little Chapman Lake: No wake (10 MPH or less)
39' maximum depth with average depth of 12'5"

Fishing Information:
Bluegill, Catfish, Crappie, Largemouth Bass, Longear, Northern Pike, Redear, Walleye, Yellow Perch

Overnight mooring of any watercraft is not allowed unless authorized by owners.

Great Family Summer Vacay

Sunset Cottage was wonderful for our family getaway over the 4th of July. The cottage is clean, well-stocked, and has a wonderful view of the lake. The inclusion of the pontoon makes this rental perfect! The owners are responsive and make your stay easy. Hope to be back again sometime!

Great outdoor space and supplies.

Inside was very clean and well organized. One suggestion: install an "adult" toilet. The current one is very small and low to the ground. Also, check for wasps nesting in the outdoor umbrella before guests arrive. Please!

Nice location, great property, but unable to stay due to horrible weather

The property was great! LOVED the location. Unfortunately, after only 3 hours a tornado came through and ruined some of the property, took out the power, damaged the pontoon, and destroyed other properties around as well. We had to turn around and go home, sadly, but the owner was very helpful with getting our money refunded. We WILL be renting this property again next year and will have another update then. Thank you to the owner for everything!

Bach party!

We had an awesome weekend at the sunset cottage for my sisters bachelorette party. We swam in little chapman, hung out at the sand bar, went for morning coffee boat rides, and had ourselves a grand fire to end the weekend. The house was very clean, plenty room for everyone, and the porch was great for all of us to visit. Emerson was a great host, next door if you need anything.

Lake getaway for bride to be

Our bride to be wanted to have a chill weekend getaway at a lake for her bachelorette and this was perfect! We took the boat out on the water and had a fabulous time. We were happy to beat the heat with the great air conditioning afterwards, and then we made a fire at night and made smores. Emerson was very responsive when we needed anything and we would highly recommend staying here!

In town due to death of father

My father loved the water and fishing so I chose to stay somewhere that would honor his life. The place was perfect and the host was very accommodating. He even allowed us to have a very small service for my father next to the water. I highly recommend this vrbo.

Beautiful setting

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The house was great for what we needed and the location was perfect for playing on the lake. The hosts were available if we needed anything and they made the whole experience very easy.

Nice lake and great time had by all!

We had a wonderful time at the lake. Emerson was fantastic at communicating and he was available anytime we needed him. We were out on the lake before a storm, so with the waves and the wind, the boat kept moving away from the dock as we tried to bring it in. Emerson and his wife were johnny on the spot with a rope to help pull us toward the dock. The neighbors around us were kind and friendly. We enjoyed our time with our family and would recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect Lakefront Getaway

Our family of 7, including children ages 5-17, had a wonderful week at Sunset Cottage! There were many outdoor activities to keep us entertained (paddle boat, paddle board, fishing, swimming, boating & tubing) during the day. We enjoyed the evenings grilling and playing in the yard. The ease of the boat rental and the attentiveness to make sure we had a full tank of gas each day allowed us to truly relax & focus on our family! We hope to visit again!

WONDERFUL GETAWAY

EMERSON AND NATALIE DO AN AMAZING JOB KEEPING THE PROPERTY SPIC AND SPAN AND UPDATED WITH EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED. WE SPENT MANY HOURS ON THE PONTOON AND THE LAKE WAS SO NICE. Lovely views at sunset cottage

We had a lovely fall stay at the sunset cottage. The views from the deck are gorgeous. The cottage is sparkling clean and has all the amenitites to make your stay comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is well stocked with more equipment than any rental I've been to, which is great. The pontoon boat was a great way to get out on the water in mid October, and the lake is beautiful. We also had fun playing corn hole and other games. Emerson is a gracious host and willing to assist in any way to make your stay more comfortable. The cottage is so well decorated and makes you feel right at home. We would recommend it to anyone...
