The villa 'Haniya', in common with all properties on this urban is architecturally unique. While many properties share features and characteristics, there are no identical homes. Designed during 1981 to 1982, the villa was built and handed over to its Belgian owner in 1983 who then took up residence. The constructed design of the two-storey villa was (and is) an intriguing mix of traditional Spanish and colonial Belgian styles, dominated by the clean lines of multiple arches, walkways and stippled walls.
About twenty years ago, the original owner returned to Belgium and the villa was purchased by an English couple who updated numerous features and arranged for the addition of a swimming pool that was located in the tropical garden immediately outside the villa's ground floor apartment.
In 2011, the present owners bought the villa and, while living overseas, put in place a major four-phase plan of restoration for the entire property, with special attention being paid to the refurbishment of the integrated two-bedroom apartment. A common feature of the restoration has been the careful maintenance of period features - for the purpose and objective of harmonious design.
