Brienno is a tiny historic village built into the mountainside, so there is definitely some climbing involved, and we always want guests to know that before they arrive. The village itself is indeed very small, which is a big part of its charm and tranquility. For guests who want to explore the lake extensively, a car can certainly be convenient, although it isn’t essential, as Brienno is also connected by bus and ferry to many of the larger towns around the lake. Dining options in the village are limited, so exploring neighboring towns for meals can also be part of the fun! Thank you again for choosing Chalet Lilia for your Lake Como stay. Brienno is a tiny, centuries-old village built into the mountainside, so access can require a bit more effort than in some of the larger towns on the lake. Sitting in the garden with a book and listening to the church bells sounds just about perfect to us. October is such a beautiful time to be on Lake Como. The villages are peaceful, the summer crowds have disappeared, and the fall colors around the lake make everything feel even more magical.
