We loved our stay! Our family has stayed at multiple Ocean Dunes condos but this one was very unique. The design with the loft was very cool, which our 7year old son loved with the spiral steps and the carport was wider than the other units. The unit was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The host had amazing communication and answered all questions. You are also very close to the indoor pool for rainy beach days. We do have a few things that kept us from 5 stars. We felt we were on top of the water during high tide which was awesome but at the same time slightly inconvenient. It appears a lot of the beach was washed away last year during the hurricane which is not consistent with the pictures. We still had enough room to put up our canopy but during high tide, you couldn’t even leave your chairs on the beach. If you love to sit on the deck at night and enjoy the ocean breeze like we do, then this unit is for you. The host should disclose that in front of this building are a lot of rocks on the beach which is not good for children. If you want to swim in the ocean safely, we had to walk the beach away from the rocks. Also, the TVs are good but slightly out of date. We could not connect the tvs to the WiFi to use Netflix which was the only app available other than basic cable. The WiFi did work well though. All in all we would def stay at this unit again. It was one of the most comfortable and clean units we have stayed in.

Great beach

The place was nice and bed was comfy. There were a few maintenance items that needed attention and property manager promptly responded. View was awesome, porch was great. Would stay here again!

Beautiful view but has bugs

There were a lot bugs, all kinds. The small roaches in the dishwasher were the deal breaker. I contacted the renters and they sent an exterminator but it didn’t help much. We left early and the renters called and I told them again about the bugs. They said they were sorry but offered nothing to try and reconcile. I waited to write a review but I have heard nothing from them.

Where to start ….

Beautiful location and view -no problems there . The condo however, was less than expected . Exposed light socket, canister kitchen lights hanging from the ceiling, multiple TV remotes with no batteries, main TV didn’t work until maintenance was called , and he just sort of shrugged and said , yeah directions and equipment are out of date and don’t work , sorry He did fix the outlet and reattached the kitchen light fixtures . But c’mon One sliding door that was “ under maintenance” so we couldn’t open it . The other one had such a dirty track that we had to have maintenance come out and grease it because that one barely opened . Netflix promised on TVs but wasn’t working on the main big one . TV froze on HDMI one so mainenance had to reset all the breakers to figure out which one controlled the power to the TV. They were very nice btw And then the Palmetto bugs everywhere, commonly known an cockroaches. Especially in the kitchen, like everywhere. So the beach and the view were gorgeous, condo could be great if it was maintained but it wasn’t . Oh well !

Great place, but could be cleaner

The place has obviously had very NICE updates and overall is beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves very much but certain things did stand out that could use attention. All are things I feel could be easily fixed. The deck has several nails sticking up. The spiral staircase is squeaky and where the railing attaches to the floor, it’s broken and no longer attached. Wouldn’t call the staircase, in general, “kid friendly” since the rails are wide enough for a kid to fit through. The main thing that stood out to us as a problem was the cleanliness. The coffee maker was dirty and still had coffee grains in the pot and the filter basket. There was a dirty q-tip under the bathroom sink and when one of the kids “lovies” went missing and I had to search under the bed, I was pretty shocked at how dirty it was. The floors were dirty. Not like you can see trash but where your feet are dirty after walking around just a little bit and you can feel the grimy feeling. There were hairs on some of the spare pillows in the closet and it just makes you start to question the cleanliness of it all. The outside furniture pic is obviously outdated and the sectional pictured on the listing only has two chairs left that are now coming apart. There are two lounge chairs though that are nice. After 7am the couch is hard to sit on because the sun is so bright and there are no curtains. The upstairs bed is not very comfortable at all but the downstairs was. The towels smelled fresh out of the packaging but the sheets were stale smelling and had to be put in the dryer with a dryer sheet to freshener them up. The tv didn’t want to work half the time and we finally found that unplugging the cable box and plugging it back in would fix that. The walk to the pool wasn’t too bad. We loved having the convenient private parking and liked that we could leave the beach stuff downstairs. The beach is literally right around the corner and we loved that! Overall we had a wonderful time and were very happy!

Condo Stay Review

Wi-Fi did not work consistently and was not fixed....we were told the internet company could not come until the next week. Had to have a hotspot delivered the next day to use for movie channels. Mattresses were uncomfortable and caused soreness every day while there and for days after leaving. Upstairs loft bathroom toilet, shower is too small for an adult. Stairs to loft are shaky and difficult for a grown adult to go up.. Kitchen appliances were new and kitchen had everything needed.

Almost perfect!

We loved the experience, great beach, quiet, the place was great. We almost got locked on the balcony! One slider door was broken during our stay and the other barely opened by the end of the trip. We loved the beach and the aquarium. Overall a great stay and location.

The BEST value and stay.

This condo felt way more luxurious than what we paid for it. Amenities are above and beyond. The view is absolutely incredible. Great location for Shell scouring and so close to things yet it feels so private and secluded. The rec center pool was way larger than we expected, and very clean. The condo itself was spotless and the kitchen had more space and supplies that we have found anywhere else. The loft can definitely be used as a second bedroom however, open concept provides limited privacy for a second adult couple and the spiral staircase, while aesthetically pleasing, would have made me very nervous had our young daughter been staying with us. Easy access to the beach and I LOVED having covered parking (enough for 2 vehicles) but the beach access shower was not working at the time of our stay (it was off season, that could be why). Clothes dryer does have to be ran twice, but atleast we were just happy to have one in the unit. Overall We did not want to leave and can not wait to return.

Beautiful finishes, updates, decor, and location!

What a view! As soon as you open the front door, you are captivated by the ocean view out the back! As you let your eyes wander, you are further impressed by the fireplace, tall ceilings, beautiful kitchen, and on-trend decor! The bedroom and loft are beautifully done, and my daughter loved the Xbox addition in the loft! What a treat! I thought the main bathroom could use a little TLC in terms of caulk and care around the sink and tub. Also, not all vent and outlet covers were secured correctly, leaving holes in the walls. Other than that, the place was a gem and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Nicely updated beachfront escape w/ modern, clean appeal. Would definitely return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over President's Day Weekend. The beach was so quiet and peaceful this time of year and the views from this unit are amazing. Also loved the close proximity to Fort Fisher. The inside is updated and modern w/ pretty much any amenity you can think of. The TV/sound system were a bit confusing to operate - would recommend a cheat-sheet to help make that a bit less confusing as we never could quite figure out the sound bar. Also, took us a bit of time to figure out how to turn on the fireplace (there is a black button on top right of fireplace that blends in a bit too well - but once we found that, we could enjoy it). Overall would recommend this unit, it was beautifully decorated and feels spacious and open. Also love the catchy name - "Tropic Like It's Hot!" Can't go wrong with that!

Lovely property with amazing views!

We loved our stay at Kure Beach! The condo was very nice, and we only found a couple minor annoyances. 1.) there needs to be another set of curtains in the living room. We found it difficult when laying the baby down while relaxing to find an area in the main space that wasn't too bright. 2.) the dryer takes at least two rounds to dry a load completely. 3.) the floors were not clean upon arrival. We spent the beginning of our trip sweeping up sand and dust. 4.) the mattress topper on the king bed doesn't stay in place. It would shift during the night causing our base sheet to come off of the mattress. 5.) the upstairs bathroom was overtaken by some kind of beetles at night. Our daughter was terrified after she went in to use the restroom the first night since she slept in the loft area. After that, the upstairs restroom was not used again during our weeks stay. The issues we found were not bad enough to deter us from wanting to come back! Overall we loved the condo and found it very comfortable and accommodating. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, and some things we didn't expect. It felt like just the right size for our family of four, and we loved being right on the beach. We found a whole baggie full of sharks teeth, make good use of the property's pools, spotted a shark from the balcony, relaxed on the beach, and made a few trips to nearby Carolina Beach. It was the most relaxing vacation we've ever had! We will definitely be returning in the future!

An excellent place for a quiet beach visit

We stayed here the week of Labor Day 2016. Apart from a few small things (see notes below), we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed staying here. It really is an excellent condo and it is ON THE BEACH. The unit itself is clean, spacious, comfortable and directly on Kure beach. It's a beautiful location, close enough to town for meals and other shopping, but far enough to have some quiet time. Parking is easy. The recreation center is right across the street with an indoor pool. The beach is clean and easy to access. If you have bikes, they have bike lanes. For food, there are grocery stores and restaurants including the Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar on the pier. Inside the unit, you can tell the owners have been updating things. The wifi is great with about 60 mbps down and 6 mbps up, plenty of speed for Netflix or Hulu. There are three excellent HDTVs, each with basic cable service. The main TV is attached to a Sony AV Receiver and a Blu-Ray player. There are spare HDMI ports on the receiver so you can use your laptop or a PS4 if you like. The Harmony remote makes watching TV or DVDs very easy. Of course, the balcony will make you forget all about the electronics. It's just lovely and there is a comfy couch and chair out there so you can watch the surf. The little bar-top attached to the railing is falling apart and needs to be replaced. The kitchen has excellent appliances including 2 coffee makers (1 Keurig and 1 drip), stove, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge. There are lots of pots, pans and utensils but most are showing their age. The knives in particular are not in good condition. If you cook a lot, you may want to bring: large cutting board, a good knife, a good frying pan. ProTip: That high-pitched beep you hear is the dishwasher when it's done. There are 2 bedrooms: A main bedroom with a door and a loft bedroom over the living room. The loft is great if you like waking up to the sun. The beds, while older, are comfortable enough for most people. I woke up sore, but I have a bad back. The loft bedroom has it's own bath with shower. The downstairs bathroom has a full tub and shower. The bathrooms are clean but the tub and shower are in need of repair/replacing. FYI: No drapes in the living room means no privacy at night and full sun all day. Also, the spiral staircase railing needs to be repaired/replaced. I imagine the owners know this and are planning on it. Overall a fantastic place!
