Settle in for an excellent stay in this Ocean Dunes condo, "Gale Winds"!

"Gale Winds" is a two bedroom, two bath, 1st floor family friendly condo features stunning oceanfront views. The open floor plan allows for breathtaking views of the Atlantic from just about anywhere you stand in the kitchen, dining room or living room! The living room features a full size couch and a brand new (2020) queen-sized pullout couch for extra visitors. The main bedroom has a Queen bed, private on suite bathroom, and direct access to the oceanfront deck. The second bedroom has two Twin beds and utilizes the second full bathroom in the hallway.

With extraordinary oceanfront views and direct beach access, this Ocean Dunes condo is also just across the street from the Ocean Dunes Recreation Center.

Ocean Dunes is an ideal year-round vacation spot for families! Located at the southern end of Pleasure Island, in Kure Beach next to Historic Fort Fisher, Ocean Dunes occupies one mile of beachfront with several private beach walkways. Included with your reservation is access to all the amenities Ocean Dunes offers, as well as the Recreation Center. Amenities include three outdoor pools, a children's playground, tennis courts, a basketball court and cornhole. The Recreation Center has an indoor pool, whirlpool/spa, gym, saunas, and showers. For Recreation Center Hours and Information, call 910.239.1370.

If you are visiting for the first time make sure you schedule a day at the NC Aquarium, or the Civil War Museum. Available Ferry Rides schedules time for you to visit the quaint little Ocean front town of Southport, where you will find little shops and plenty of antique stores. From Memorial Day to Labor Day bring the kids and drive up to Carolina Beach Boardwalk for rides, games and the famous Britt's Donuts, watch the fireworks on Thursday nights or the Free movie at the lake on Sunday nights. There is fun for all ages, so start making your memories today.

*Please keep in mind that if you are renting a property with a pool during the off-season, it may not be open or available. Pools are usually open from mid- May to September, but dates can vary based on weather, permits, HOA guidelines, inspections, improvements, and unforeseen events. For more detailed information on specific pools, please feel free to contact our office.

This condo is so close to the beach. Located at almost the end of the beach where it is more quiet. The condo was supplied with everything we needed. Will definitely book again.

Here’s a ready-to-post review based on what you shared:---The ocean view was beautiful, and the location was convenient with plenty of restaurants close by. While the balcony wasn’t the best spot for suntanning, the outdoor pool made up for it and was enjoyable. Unfortunately, the tub was not very clean, and the upstairs neighbors were quite noisy early in the morning, which affected the overall comfort. Despite those issues, it was still a good stay and we had a positive experience overall.

It was okay. No screen on the doors which we like because we open the sliding doors at night to listen to the ocean. We cracked one open anyway and had palmetto bugs and flys in the room. Dishwasher was out of order but we received a call advising us and that they would install a new one within a day. I was okay without it since we were only 2 people. Location is great fewer crowds. Outside furniture was dirty and old needs replaced. Inside was okay.

Unit was exactly as shown in pictures actually could use some updating, but was pretty clean just older. Kitchen stove burners not level, and can’t see numbers for temperature on oven. The dishwasher didn’t seem to clean dishes very well we hand washed most of them. I’m not complaining. We had a great time and I would stay there again, but if I were the owner, I would want to know these things.

Lovely Condo

Really nice condo for our stay. The condo could use some updating. I liked the dual sliding glass doors to the deck. Being right on the beach was a plus. The furniture was comfortable as was the queen bed. We would definitely stay here again.

Great view

Condo was very clean. Linens and towels were great, towels very fluffy and big! Views of ocean are amazing! Beds were very old and uncomfortable. Really needs new mattresses in both bedrooms! Needs extra paper products available, we ran out of TP in both bathrooms and no other rolls available.

Long Weekend in Kure Beach

Great weekend in Kure Beach and Ocean Dunes. With the nice weather we got to get a beach day in and on the other days took advantage of the indoor pool. Condo was perfect size for us and was exactly how it was described.

The ocean view from the balcony was exactly what I was hoping for, and the unit is right on the beach! It was also great to have access to outdoor and indoor pools nearby. I loved the location! The four star was because the shams and the decorative bed quilts smelled dirty. Only the white linen bedsheets and pillow cases were clean. The sofa bed mattress had crumbs on it. So we chose not to use it. The mattresses are very uncomfortable. The check-in requires you to come into the office to pick up paperwork and parking passes. We didn’t expect that. Also, be sure to check your email for a rental agreement and contract. I didn’t know for 2 days that a contract was sent to me, and the office didn’t respond to me in the Vrbo app. I had to ask Vrbo for the owner’s contact number to get access information. Upon contacting them, i found out there was a contract but it has not been sent to me. It would help if they contacted me first via the Vrbo app with instructions to check my personal email for next steps. I didn’t do the 3 stars because the price was fair and the staff at the real estate office were very friendly, understanding and welcoming.

Great getaway!

This is a very clean condo with nice furniture and view. The master mattress wasn't that comfortable but not miserable. The only other drawback is just the general location. There's been a lot of erosion that far south on the island so during high tide, there isn't a lot of beach space. We had to leave earlier than desired a couple of days because the tide came in so far but that was likely due to a storm off the coast. All in all, definitely a great condo at a reasonable price compared to many others. Would definitely stay there again!

Quiet and clean condo directly on the beach

Few places are as close to ocean as this. Enough sand between the building and the water to hang out. This section of beach dead-ends into rocks so it's not crowded. Clean, spacious, plenty of dishware. Appliances are not modern but everything we used worked. It is required to pick up parking passes at the rental office and also to drop them off leaving town. Relatively minor inconvenience since it was on our way. Outdoor seating and balcony were clean. Sliding doors were functional. Exterior faces of glass doors and windows need cleaned though. Overall a great experience, good value, and well-managed property. I truly enjoyed the stay.

Nice but dated unit.

This property is dated. The beds were very uncomfortable as was the pull out sofa. The kitchen cabinets were very dated and the stove top was the old coil type and the burners did not set level so that everything tended to go to one side. We loved having a washer and dryer and dish washer. The location was perfect however. The views were gorgeous. When we arrived there was a spot at the threshold of the master bedroom were the carpeting was worn back and the tack strip was sticking up and our little granddaughter and myself stepped on it which was quite painful. I called maintenance and they came and put duct tape over it as a tempoary fix. Also the owner has a notice on the slider in the master bedroom asking that you keep all doors and windows closed which I thought was odd as who doesn't want to feel the ocean breeze and hear the waves crashing?

Great condo

This condo was perfect for our family of 6 for the week. The listing was accurate, we had plenty of bathroom linens that were nice and thick. Showers had amazing water pressure. Our location in ocean dunes was ok, we loved being across the street from the rec center to use the indoor pool and spa. We were a good little distance from the outdoor pool tho. The beach in front of our condo was hard to set up on. The tide was high for most part of the day all week and the water was literally up to the dunes and the beach we did have was at a slope. But a short walk either way we had no issues. The beach was amazing and very cool to see the rocks nearby. The aquarium is a short drive down the road to enjoy. It’s so peaceful and quiet. House was very clean but was out dated big time but you can see from the pictures. Price was a little high in our opinion for this particular unit but you see what you get. They had a storage container in the parking spot that had some chairs and items for you to use on the beach which was nice and convenient. To get to the beach is a very short easy walk. Overall it was a great stay. We had an issue with the microwave upon arrival but it was taken care of the following day! Check in was easy, although just leaving the parking passes in the condo would be a lot more convenient than having to check in at the rental company, but our kids did get sunglasses and my husband and I got some koozies and a wine tumbler at check in as well!

Amazing Views of the Beach and Sunrises

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We selected Racondo for it's amazing sunrises right off the balcony and panoramic views of the beach just 20 feet below our balcony. However, the unit needs an overhaul (specifically rugs, bathtubs, outlets, all kitchen appliances). For the current condition of the property, which was clean and livable, we would not have booked Racondo if it wasn't for the reasonable price we paid for our two week stay. The property description was accurate regarding the location, layout, and amenities. There were plenty of kitchen utensils and pots and pans. Having access to the Ocean Dunes Recreation Center was great for rainy days and using the pools. The Bryant Real Estate company was quick to respond to our emails before and during our stay. Repairs, which were minor, were remedied quickly. If you're not expecting the Ritz and want beautiful sunrises and easy access to the beach, we recommend you stay here. Note that this rental, and others in the Ocean Dunes complex, require a 10-15 minute car ride to eat out or shop.

It was clean enough that we didn't have to call someone to take care of any messes. The customer service at Bryant Rental is top notch! I would definitely recommend this place, and will definitely try to stay there again! The only activity we participated in was a fishing charter boat out of Carolona Beach, Tried and True Charters, and did some Gulf Stream fishing. That is a definite must if you are in the area!

The one great thing about the unit is the proximity to the beach access and shore- it's super close and the view is beautiful. This unit was clean but outdated. The carpeting in the living room and bedrooms needs to go. The kitchen is in desperate need of some upgrades. There were tons of roaches on the deck which really bothered us. The vacation was awesome and we enjoyed ourselves but are unlikely to return to this unit without the owners making some upgrades.

The furnishings are a little outdated but the price was commensurate with the furnishings, and that suited us fine. When the tide is in, the ocean is so close that it felt a little like being on a houseboat (but without the motion)! We were second floor so we had a covered porch that overlooked the water and we loved it.

Needs updating

I understand this is a beach property but it is not very well maintained. Location is excellent but for what the cost was they should at least have removed this headboard wrapped in a dirty mattress cover. No idea why it was even there. I did see it in a previous review so why would you leave it??

An Enjoyable Stay

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As others have mentioned, the location of this place is hard to beat. It’s basically in the ocean...which is awesome, but the shoreline is very prone to erosion here and beach space can be at a premium during busy days. Large sandbags protecting buildings seem to be permanent fixtures but aren’t as detracting as we thought they may be. Some reviewers give this place a hard time, but we were fine with it. Yes, it’s a bit outdated, but it was clean and well taken care of. There were some of the Palmetto bugs that showed up on the deck nightly, but that’s common/natural here...like crickets. Just be sure to keep the doors shut and they won’t be an issue. One thing that could be improved is the deck seating/table...it was plastic, a bit rickety and could have been more comfortable. Otherwise, we were pleased with our stay...but don’t expect the Taj Mahal. We come to enjoy the beach/coast, not to spend all our time trying to be entertained inside the condo. If you take that same approach, you’ll enjoy it here. And my wife says replace the microwave...it doesn’t turn.

You cannot read the writing on it. It could use a little more cookware, but there is plenty of plates, forks, spoons, etc. The washer and dryer is great to have. There is some outlets that do not work or they work by switch or something. There was something weird behind the headboard. It was a big wooden something that was taller than the bed and wrapped in cloth. Removing that would be a plus. The best part about the condo was it was sparkling clean. The floors, bathroom, counters, fridge, and everything else was soooo clean. I would recommend this condo and this real estate company to anyone. They were very helpful,

Right on the ocean, quiet condo, great view from nice living room - great indoor pool at the rec center, but outdoor pools were closed - so ask if that is what you want. However, if you are looking for a condo that is updated - this isn't the one for you. The deck/patio was filthy with lots of completely loose splintery boards - not great situation if you have kids. The bathrooms are in bad need of updates. No screen door on one patio and gaping holes in the screen of the other. There are lots of bugs in this condo including Palmetto cockroaches - shake your clothes out before you go home - several made their way into our food boxes in the kitchen and the clothes in the bedroom! We booked last minute so the check in process was a little inconvenient with providing ID, and having to go to the office one town over to pick and drop off the keys was a surprise. Rental staff were very nice and helpful during the process. Overall nice location, but just be aware this is not a new updated unit.
