It is with sadness, but not surprise, that we read this review as we are aware that it was written within hours of us having to regrettably report and make a small charge for damage caused to the cottage by these guests, which received a hostile response. We trust that future guests will take note of our previously consistent 5 star reviews and view this current review accordingly. We welcome all feedback, good or bad, and encourage guests to raise any concerns with us during their stay, so that they can be addressed immediately. Sadly, the guest failed to communicate at all during their stay, despite our attempts to contact them to check that all was well with their stay. We have taken on board and rectified areas that require addressing as we want guests to have an enjoyable stay at The Old Chapel. Location: the postcode provided in the listing address takes guests directly to the cottage but we have added further detailed directions also. All guests are encourage guests in our pre-arrival email to contact us should they have difficulty locating the property. The property is correctly located in the description as being adjacent to the B2096. Exterior: we are aware that a small section of weatherboarding requires attention and a builder has already been scheduled to complete these works at the end of the summer. Thank you for bringing our attention to the timber decking on the balcony, this was addressed within hours of being notified via this review and do not understand we were not notified at the time. The main garden is mowed and weeded regularly. We have notified the cleaner of these comments and follow an enhanced COVID cleaning schedule. With regards to the smaller bedroom, the property listing notes that the room size is small when the pull out bed is erected. The cottage is inspected between guests and the shower was not broken prior to arrival, damage was incurred during the stay and requested contribution to cost (£29) included installation. We pride ourselves in our communication, making ourselves available to guests 24 hours a day, with 2 mobile phones, 1 landline, email and VRBO messaging. We visited daily with the exception of one day (when we messaged instead), but the guests were not in. We also messaged the guests on another occasion, with no response. The second fan, offered in the pre-arrival message, was not requested, but we will leave additional fans for guests. We hope that these comments provide reassurance to future guests.

We are glad you had a lovely time and yes, your stay coincided with the August heatwave, the next village along recording the highest temperature in the UK for two days in a row! Glad you brought a fan as we could not buy any for love nor money during those couple of days, but we will make sure that one is put in the wardrobe for use in the future.
