a good stay

We had a good stay in Dorset The cottage is in a beautiful and very quiet place! The facilities in the house are good Jenny is very kindly! Er is many to visit in Dorset, but it takes about 20 minutes to drive through the narrow lanes to normal road!

Relaxing stay in a lovely location

The property lived up to all our expectations. It was a beautiful cottage and out host had made sure that everything we could have wanted for the weeks stay was available. It was an excellent base for us to visit lots of interesting places in Dorset. Jenny was always available if needed.

Secret Garden

Wonderful stay in a secluded part of Dorset, yet still close by to coastal villages like Lyme Regis and Bridport. Our host made us feel very welcome in our old stone cottage surrounded by wildflowers. There are lots of opportunities for country-lane and hillside strolls and hikes, and Jenny provides a mini library of maps, hikes and local points of interest. We had a little difficulty at first establishing communications, but once that was worked out, there were no issues at all. We would definitely do this again!

Special Place in Dorset

This is one of the loveliest properties we have ever stayed at...remote, quiet and peaceful in a delightful setting. We cannot recommend it too highly. Well equipped and with a lovely wood burner, and places to walk, we would be very happy to return any time! Richard and Jenny made us most welcome and their holiday cottage is just a delight! Lovely cottage with lovely owners.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience at barn cottage. My 3 young sons thoroughly enjoyed the space and beautiful gardens. The owners treated us like family and our boys are already asking to go back. The lady who rents the other cottage was also very friendly, she’s lucky to live so close to two really lovely people :) We really hope to see you again in the new future. Andrew, Phoebe, Fox, Rudy and Raffe.

Beautiful cottage in truly rural location

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in this cottage despite relatively poor weather. It is quite small for a family of four but very well equipped and is a truly peaceful place for a break. No hesitation in recommending it and Richard and Jenny who are lovely hosts.

Perfect peace

Barn Cottage, in its secluded tranquil setting, provides comfort and well-equipped facilities without any loss of its characterful charm. The garden opens to an orchard which leads to Dorset countryside with deer in woods and orchids in wild-flower meadows. The sun shone and our hosts, Jenny and Richard, were delightful with warm welcome and friendly advice.

Lovely cottage

The cottage was lovely. Everything you needed was there. The setting is wonderful, part of a farm with a lovely garden and even a stream running through it. The cottage itself is quite spacious with all amenities that you need. The owners, Jenny and Richard were very friendly and helpful.

An Oasis of peace

Barn Cottage is a well equipped cottage in a beautiful part of Dorset. Off the beaten track but just 20 minutes from Bridport. The owners who live in the farm house next door are very welcoming and helpful. The only noises you will hear are the sounds of nature. Bliss!

Very sweet cottage in a beautiful location!

The owners were approachable,attentive and very thoughtful. We enjoyed the location immensely as it’s rural enough for complete solitude but the towns are within easy reach. Super walks from the cottage and the local pubs serve wonderful food and the landlords were very welcoming. Wonderful part of the world and we had an amazing week there. Thank you.

Having spent half my life as a naval wife, I was determined to settle down in our lovely county of Dorset and in 1983 my husband and I discovered this thatched farmhouse with a few acres and a barn which had previously been used for making cider. We acquired a flock of sheep and enjoyed renovating the farmhouse and the barn, now named Barn Cottage. This cottage has been let for holidays for several years and has been very popular.

The surroundings of the cottage are spectacular and we feel really privileged to live in this beautiful area with its rolling hills and valleys. Although off the beaten track, the beaches and shops are only some 5 miles away. Bridport is a thriving market town with much entertainment available.

この宿泊施設の特徴

There are numerous walks straight from your front door taking you through fields, woods etc with usually a pub somewhere along the route. Aim for Mapperton Manor (used for scenes in the latest version of Far from the Madding Crowd), Powerstock Common, King John's Castle (hunting lodge), the Iron Age fort at Eggardon Hill, and the Kingcombe Centre with its wild flower meadows.

The beaches at West Bay, Eype, Seatown (Anchor Inn) , Charmouth (for fossils), Lyme Regis and Burton Bradstock (the Hive Beach cafe), all along the Jurassic Coast, are easily accessible. Portland Bill and Abbotsbury (for the swans) are well worth visiting.
