This apartment kicks butt! Beautifully furnished, sparkling clean, killer views. The attention to detail is what sets this place apart from any others I've rented.
Terry, the host, was a pleasure to deal with and the on-site manager, Cecilia, greeted us with gifts: Ecuadorian coffee, fresh-baked bread, a dozen eggs and speciality chocolates to die for. AND two dozen red roses and gladiolas, too. Plus she was always available to answer our questions and offer suggestions about the area. Cecilia, you rock!
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you'll want for cooking and entertaining. I especially appreciated the basics being supplied to get us started: paper products, dish soap, laundry detergent, olive oil, spices, and butter. There's even a lemon tree and little herb garden on the patio where a playful green hummingbird comes around every day.
(I've named him Basil) :-)
The king -size bed is super comfortable, the linens good quality, and the towels plush. The showers always had plenty of hot water and good pressure.
Weekly cleaning service was provided, too.
Oh, did I mention the awesome views from the living room and master bedroom? Well, you'll see!
Just a block away is a huge mercado where we bought our fresh veggies and fruits and the Super Maxi Market is just a short taxi ride away. Very convenient.
The Parque Calderon is an easy walk from the front door with plenty of restaurants and stores in between. We always felt safe in this neighborhood both day and night.
Behind the apartment are steps leading down to the paved walking path along the Rio Tomebamba. A very pleasant walk with restaurants and museums lining the way.
No place is ever perfect, but this one comes pretty darn close. In fact, I can't really think of a thing to improve upon.
Grab this place if you can. Cuenca is a lovely city. Enjoy your stay!
