Inside, you’ll find an open-concept countryside home filled with natural light and thoughtful design for flow and calm. Curl up by the wood-burning fire, sleep soundly in a comfy queen or double bed, and enjoy a clean, stylish bathroom. The open kitchen makes it easy to cook, share meals, or entertain with ease.

Step outside and let the river be your guide—wander along the shoreline, sip your morning coffee in the fresh air, or stargaze in the quiet night sky. In winter, adventure begins right at your doorstep with snowmobile trails leading off the property.

We had a really great time there: the house is really nice and well located. It's also well equipped and furnished. The garden (or should Is say the park) is very big and peaceful. Unfortunately we couldn't do any fire in the garden due to the fire ban in the country. Lorrie, the owner is really nice and helpful: she's always available when we need something. If we ever come back to the area we'll seriously consider this house again.

Relaxing Getaway with my 2 boys

My 2 young sons and I stayed at Lorie’s charming apartment cottage from July 21-25 and we had a fabulous time. The cottage was in excellent condition, everything was where you’d expect it to be and had everything we needed for a home away from home experience. There was a friendly dog on the property that would greet us whenever he was outside and Lorie is always readily available should you need anything as she lives on the property. Lorie was a great host—she even provided us with a binder full of information so that we could make the most of our stay. We came for the mineral museum but experienced so much more! Would highly recommend Lorie’s property!

Fabulous Weekend

This is the best place we've been at! Peaceful, tranquil, close to town, very private with fabulous beds! Everything was provided from any kind of kitchen utensil you could want to soap & washcloth in the bathroom.The netted gazebo made it the perfect spot to relax outside after a long day and the comfy furnishing inside were also perfect. I could very easily live there as my permanent home. I loved it all!Thank you Lori, for being the perfect hostess!!

If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful I’d recommend this place. Lots of nature and sunlight, it’s also close to town and was close to everything we wanted to do. Our host was very helpful when we had questions or requests, deeply appreciated.

Beautiful property!

Great relaxing weekend

The communication with Lorie was great. She replied quickly to my questions. The location is easy to find. The place is beautiful. Very well decorated and maintained. I loved the bed overllooking the living room. And it was very comfortable. We needed a little time out of the city to relax and that is what we did. We walked to the river. There is a screened gazebo so we can sit without the bugs. There is one also near the property which we used a lot. There is everything needed to cook and more. And good quality too. Lorie takes good care of the place. If you are looking for a great place to relax, with a nice wooden stove to keep you cozy, that is the place. If you want to venture, there are lots of trails around. We had a great time. Thank you Lorie :-)

The add for the place was alittle misleading, when we arrived was not quite what we expected, but our hostess was very nice and willing to answer any questions we had and any help we needed, the inside was beatyfull, clean and well organized, we had a great time and would do it again, thnk you lorie! Suite in Bancroft

- very clean - quiet - cozy spot with everything you might need - well equipped kitchen, bbq, wood stove (for heat in cooler months) - the furniture in the living area is white - just be aware if you’re bringing a pet - access to the York river is just down the hill from the rental space

Lovers Oasis

This space was cozy, fully equipped with everything you need, relaxing, nature filled and very quiet, which is what we needed... We took a canoe ride down the river and stopped at some sandy places to swim and do some fishing... Lori the host was very nice and super chill and her dogs are so sweet and well behaved... Overall it was a great experience and we would go back...

Lovely oasis

Thank you Lorie for such an enjoyable stay! Such a warm and cozy place; so welcoming and comfortable. Great kitchen with everything you need. We really enjoyed our catered meal from local Chef Shaun and delivered to our place by his lovely wife Carly. A lovely stay and everything thought through to make us feel at home and in need of nothing. It was wonderful arriving with our place already cozy and warm with the fire already prepared upon arrival! We highly recommend and hope to visit again real soon!

Great spot for couples!

I rented from Lorie for my boyfriend and I to celebrate our anniversary together. We had an amazing time and loved the cozy feel of the place. The rental was super clean and had everything we could need from a great movie selection to basic kitchen spices and appliances. The wood stove is great touch and makes it very hard to want to leave the coziness of the rental. Lorie was very helpful in the check in process and days leading up to our weekend away. We’re very pleased and hope to return!

NYE Getaway

Lori's property was a wonderful escape from the city. The space is warm and inviting with its decor and amenities. She has a wonderful book collection that kept me busy by the wood fire. Additionally, the outdoor property is situated steps away from the river and was a beautiful backdrop to enhance my stay.

Great stay!

We loved our stay with Lorie! It was such a cozy spot on a nice, quiet piece of property - perfect for a weekend get away. Our pup Oscar really enjoyed his stay as well! If you stay here, I highly recommend opting in for the bagels and scones by Chef Shaun - perfect thing to have in the morning. Would definitely recommend!

It was like a nice warm blanket in a quiet peaceful setting. The host had a fire going for us so it was warm when we arrived. The unique layout was open and inviting and we loved the mix of decor. Thanks for a great night away.

Lovely lodging

Spent a few days in Bancroft. The lodging is quirky and fun, very comfortable and easy to feel at home. There is a fairly steep walk down to the river. The location is off the main road, so you do need to drive to trails etc. It's a good place to relax and enjoy.

Now retired from hands-on practice, she is training as a certified Nonviolent Communication (NVC) facilitator, continuing her lifelong commitment to personal and community growth.

As Chair of the North Hastings Community Trust, Lorie is known for her warmth, compassion, and ability to create meaningful connections. Guests appreciate her welcoming presence, deep local roots, and dedication to making every stay peaceful, comfortable, and inspiring.

I fell in love with this property the moment I saw it-over 22 years ago-and it has been home ever since. I’ve lived in the Bancroft area since I was 14, after moving here from Toronto, and this community quickly became part of my heart.
