Enjoyed our stay!

The place was great and quiet. Perfect for traveling with our 2 dogs. The host, Sheryl, was very communicative and helpful. Wish it was walking distance to the dog beach but Del Mar wasn’t a far drive.

Sheryl and Bob were incredible hosts and they offered an amazing stay. My girlfriend, dog, and I went down to Encinitas for a week to surf and couldn’t have asked for more. The bnb is very spacious with its layout and outdoor kitchen and was perfect for a little guy to run around and feel comfortable. Being on the ground floor allowed us to stay cool and the AC in the unit helped us moderate our temperature. The location of the unit couldn’t be beat - split right between Beacons and Grandview and less than a 10 min walk either way. Sheryl and Bob were also incredible to work with and super nice. If this unit was for rent I’d move right in lol. Couldn’t recommend this bnb enough - thanks Sheryl and Bob!

Beautiful property, great location!

We were very impressed with this lovely property! Close proximity to the beach and to downtown Leucadia. Many shops, delicious restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries. The hosts, Sheryl and Bob, were communicative and friendly. When in the area again, I will definitely put this at the top of my list of places to stay!

Beach Getaway

I had a great stay here this summer. The hosts are lovely and thoughtful, the place is comfy and low-maintenance, and the location is fabulous: one block from the beach, and one block from the main drag with great restaurants and shops. If you’re looking for a beach getaway, you couldn’t do better….

Retired Beach Strollers

Listing accurately describes the property. The backyard is beautiful. Having private access to an upper deck was a plus (partial view of the Pacific). We enjoyed the backyard fireplace mornings and evenings. I was a bit anxious at the thought of an outdoor kitchen but it worked for us. Only a short walk on Neptune Avenue to two beach accesses (Beacon & Grandview). Off-street parking was a must for us. Peachy's Market (fresh produce), which we visited on a regular basis, was right down the street. Restaurants & coffee shops were within walking distance. Communication with Sheryl and Bob was easy. This was our first stay but we hope to be back again.

Great place to unwind and enjoy ocean breeze.

Our stay was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Sheryl and Bob have created an extremely welcoming space with a secluded patio surrounded by all types of florals and in walking distance to the ocean, restaurants, shops, bars, ect. We felt rested and rejuvenated following our stay and hope to return in the future!

Leucadia Beach Retreat

Great place and location. Just a short walk from the beach. Easy to get around Leucadia and Encinitas. Very neat and tidy place, the outdoor living area was just what we (and our dog!) needed. Sheryl and Bob were very welcoming and nice! Thank you for letting us stay at your place!

Great host, space and location.

We used this property to work, visit relatives, and enjoy nice ocean view walks. Sheryl is very communicative and responsive. Restaurants and groceries are walkable too. We will consider this location for future visits.

Owners on site, very accommodating. Small backyard with fireplace and comfortable seating. Fully equipped outdoor kitchen and BBQ. Restaurants and beach are short walks. Sunsets at beach overlook are a must.

Great outdoor space

Loved our stay. Great location. one block from ocean. Apartment was clean and cozy. Outdoor space exceptional. Loved the gas fireplace and outdoor furniture. Outdoor kitchen worked well. Had everything we needed. Table and chairs inside was helpful on chilly mornings. Best of all Sheryl and Bob were wonderful hosts. We will be back.

Wonderful property & hosts

My husband and I rented the apartment for the month of June, and couldn’t be happier with our choice! Sheryl and Bob are warm and welcoming, and have created an oasis for their renters. The apartment is on the small side, but perfectly functional and accurately represented in the listing. The real selling point though is the large, fenced yard that you have entirely to yourself. The yard is bigger than the apartment, and includes an outdoor kitchen, sectional sofa surrounding a massive gas fireplace, fake grass area, and lots of gorgeous roses, hydrangeas and irises. Not to mention a rooftop balcony with ocean view! We spent so much time outside every day… morning coffee in front of the fireplace, meals al fresco, open air yoga, etc. etc. etc. Beach access is 0.4 miles in one direction or 0.5 in the other, making a great 2-mile loop walk. The neighborhood is super walkable with lots of great restaurants and shops nearby. The only (small) down side is that the houses in this area are close together, so there can be noise from neighbors… but you’re unlikely to escape that anywhere in Encinitas. Highly recommended!

Leucadia retreat

We rented this updated Leucadia retreat during September while our Leucadia home remodel a block away was being finished. We had two busy adults and two teen boys, and one chill dog who loved to walk Neptune. The space and patio was good. The outdoor kitchen was sufficient for light cooking. Their gas grill with burner was excellent. The owners are warm, accommodating, and accessible. We love love love the location! We recommend this property.

March with the Smith’s

Bob and Sheryl are fabulous hosts! Beautiful outdoor space. Everything on the inside was comfortable, clean and cozy. We were worried about the outdoor kitchen space, however it was just fine. Well stocked and fun. Added a bit of adventure to the trip. We had our grandkids visit over the visit and having the outdoor space was very welcome. Location is perfect. We love walking on Neptune, quick walk to Peachy’s and Leucadia donuts! Of course also easy walk to all the 101 restaurants. We will be back!

Sheryl is a Real Estate Broker in the North Coastal area of San Diego County and Bob is mostly retired after many years in the corporate high-tech world and most recently as a Realtor. Bob and Sheryl have lived west of the 101 since 1990 and also now rent out a portion of their home that has a separate entrance for guests. They always enjoy meeting their guests and especially appreciate to hear from them on how much they're enjoying My Beach Stay and the neighborhood's lifestyle. "Our rental has so much to offer and it's nice to see our guests use it to its full advantage."

"People that stay here love the outdoor/indoor living in the Old California feel of Leucadia. Our yard, the birds and flowers, are a peaceful way to wake up and to unwind after a day out and about. The newer kitchen has just about everything! Not to mention, romantic dimmable lighting and a beautiful granite breakfast bar. And the stone fireplace outdoors is very cozy when lit with comfortable seating surrounding it. The bathroom is updated and roomy. All in all, it's very different from most beach rentals. Clean and inviting.

Starting in 2005, we offered just a bedroom and bathroom with no kitchen and, and not through VRBO. In 2010, we added the covered outdoor kitchen so our guests could spend more time here and we upgraded the bathroom. No matter what time of year, My Beach Stay gets used by couples, singles and families for even longer stays. In about 2017, we added a living room a daybed to the rental. In 2019, we upgraded the floors to luxury plank vinyl; in 2020 we purchased new outdoor furniture for the sitting area in front of the fireplace outdoors. In December of 2021, we invested into a whole-house water filter system, which means every faucet in the home offers filtered water. In February of 2022, we added a new Pottery Barn, very comfortable, high-end sofa bed in the living room. Little by little, we've tried to make this vacation rental more luxurious, but also easy for our guests.

VRBO has granted us the designation of Premier Hosts because of our multiple excellent reviews and our response time. We communicate well and are there for our guests when they need us, while at the same time give them perfect privacy."
