Beautiful villa & nice view

Our stay in the villa was great. The facilities were all there that you could need. You have a beautiful view of the island. The pool was a nice way to cool off every day.

Wonderful time

Our stay in this lovingly designed house and the uniquely quiet and naturally beautiful area will always be remembered in wonderful memories. The equipment of the house is high quality, very well maintained and cozy. The beds are great, I have rarely slept so well. Within walking distance is the pretty village of Magirites with many taverns and beautiful pottery, where I would like to emphasize the special hospitality. We felt so comfortable that we will definitely come back again to relax and recharge in this idyllic accommodation. Thank you for this wonderful time.

A gorgeous place for a relaxing holiday

This villa was super for our family of 6. It was great to find a villa that had gorgeous mountain views but was within walking distance of a village with tavernas and shops. Margarites is just inland off north coast. Though busy in the day with tourists in the pottery shops, it was still v authentic, quiet at night and the people were soooo friendly. The local taverna was great and we could eat tzatziki & bread, wine and main course very reasonably. Several mornings and early eves you could hear chanting from the local church and several days we would hear bells jangling as goats were moved to a new grazing spot so it was a real taste of Greek life. We flew to Heraklion and it was just over an hours transfer. We hired a car which is essential in order to travel around the island. It was a 20-30 min drive to lovely beaches such as Spillies and Bali beaches where you could have food and drinks brought to your beds!! Beds with umbrellas were v reasonable. Owner Ritsi was v helpful with all our minor queries as was Elizabeth, our vrbo rep. Disadvantages: though villa was advertised as air conditioned that was just in our main bedroom so the other rooms got hot at night. However villa was v open plan and we found if we put the air con on early it did cool the other rooms; the pool was small - half the size of a pool but the kids still loved it; the final disadvantage would be the slope to the villa it was a rough road and a v steep gradient but we found it doable and made you feel you’d slightly burnt off your taverna meal by the time you reached the top!!! We would love to stay here again.

A lovely villa in a fab location.

We have just come back from spending a lovely week at this villa. As a family of four with two young boys (aged 7 and 4), the villa was perfect for our needs. The outside area is beautiful, with plenty of sun loungers to enjoy the warm Cretan sunshine all day. The outside eating area was perfect for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner outside as it was always shaded. We used the BBQ on quite a few occasions during our week's stay. The pool was lovely and refreshing and just the right size for our boys to have lots of fun in. The villa is set in the lovely village of Margarites with its array of ceramics shops for the perfect souvenirs, with all the shop owners being extremely friendly. We also enjoyed a couple of morning refreshments at the cafe at the bottom of the track the milkshakes were a particular favourite of our boys!!! We visited the beaches at Bali and Panormos several times. They both had lovely sandy beaches and the sea was both warm and shallow, perfect for our boys to swim in. Both beaches had lovely tavernas ideal for lunch. Ritsa, the villa owner is a lovely, friendly lady who met us on our arrival in Margarites and guided us to the villa and showed us around. From the moment we booked the villa, Emvorifa, the agent, was extremely helpful, providing us with lots of information about the villa and facilities on offer to us and she always responded to our emails promptly . Thank you to both Ritsa and Emvorifa in helping us have a truly wonderful holdiay!

Wonderful and enjoyable!

We enjoyed our stay at Monemvasia from the very first second until the end, but then we had to leave with a little tear in our eyes, because it was so wonderful. 4 adults and 3 kids loved the house, the pool, the barbecue and the garden wich is really nice to just chill, read or do nothing. The little town of Margarites is quite near, about 10 minutes walk from the villa. In Margarites you can find some nice taverns to sit and to have good food. After all we have to say thank you to the very kind hosts. Beautiful place to relax and to enjoy the holiday. Thank You!

Lovely property and location

A very clean and comfortable property for a family of 5. Within walking distance of the village with its restaurants and shops but far enough away for tranquillity (a steep gravelly path - 8 mins down, 15 back up). We got on well with the people in the next door villa and the kids played together. It was nice to be met and guided to the villa and the tips for visits and restaurants were great. I loved the distant sound of goats, hens, dogs and church bells and all the herbs aronud. I was worried the village would be very touristy but it wasn't when we stayed. We spent a whole day there exploring the churches with their frescoes, the ceramic shops, and the wonderful views. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Minoan Tomb of Margarites, a short drive from the villa. Festos and Triopetra were also great, although over 1.5hr drive away. Very nearby, the Monastry of Arkadi was really interesting and the museum at Elefterna was a highlight for us, as an excellent small museum, which even the kids enjoyed learning about Greek history. The weather wasn't fantastic for us, I think the mountains attracted more clouds and wind but it didn't stop us and the kids still enjoyed the pool although it was too cold for me. Some extra blankets might be useful for chillier weeks (I had brought one with me!). Thank you to Muses travel, Evmorfia and Ritsa for their attentiveness. We hadn't realised how big Crete is and want to come back and see more.

Nice villa in a very tranquil authentic village

Loved our stay here! Villa is comfortable, spotless and had everything you needed. Plus the views are incredible! We loved the pool area and we used a few times the bbq to prepare our meals. The village is an authentic cretan village, people are very welcome and you can find nice local taverns. We absolutely loved our stay and we will definitely come back!

Amazing holidays! Beautiful view, nice and clean!

I was absolutely satisfied with everything, the accomodation is perfect, silence, privacy ... Elizabeth and Evmorfia the letting agent, was exceptionally helpful and immediately allayed any concerns you can sometimes have booking through an internet agent. Prior to our trip, we received all the information we could require about the villa and the local area and excellent recommendations for local car hire and airport transfer. Village Magarites is well equiped with tavernas, shop, bakery etc. Thanks very much to Ritsa for warm welcome and serivce that helped me feeling like home and relax. Thank you I am going to return for sure.
