Perfect spot in Berkeley

Mary Kay was responsive and the apartment was safe, clean, and comfortable. Easy 1 mile walk to BART or easy bus rude to BART. lovely shoos and restaurants.

Not for more than one person

I was very disappointed in the sleeping facilities. I was told there was a cot and indeed there was, but no one could possibly be expected to sleep on it. It was very thin and springs were poking out. I left the accommodations early because of this.

To my Guest: You inquired as to the availability of additional sleeping arrangements as you felt that you and and your husband possibly could not share a double bed, which is what is available here. In two years, (& many more with private rentals!) many people at my place have comfortably enjoyed their rest as a pair on the double bed. A cot is exactly as it name implies - a folding bed with a slim mattress. Mine is almost brand-new and no springs are poking from it. I'm regretful both that you felt uncomfortable, and also that you apparently do not realize the norms of hosting, as you rated my accommodation with your 2 stars when it is clear from reviews that nearly all my rankings are 5 stars. I might ask you to well consider your future booking choices given that all information was up-front and the unit was fully as advertised. All hosts desire the comfort of their guests, but it appears that with the accommodation AS ADVERTISED that there was no opportunity for you to feel comfortable. I answered an extreme number of communiques from you in a very responsive manner in advance, and am sorry that you were dissatisfied, really it would appear from no fault of my own.

We enjoyed our stay in Mary Kay's apartment. Easy access to UC, short 10min walk from BART, and to the Elmwood neighborhood which is a great walking and eating area.

Clean and convenient location

Roomy one bedroom with kitchen and small dining area and a good sized desk for working. Owner is an excellent communicator and responsive. Light sleepers should be aware - floor above is squeaky - tenant above can be heard walking and moving about. Let owner know ahead of time if you have a car so she can accommodate. Very convenient to UC Berkeley, restaurants, etc. in lovely neighborhood.

Clean, comfortable, quiet apartment in a wonderful, convenient neighborhood

This is a wonderful apartment! It's conveniently located in the Elmwood District, walking distance to an abundance of lovely shops, restaurants, cafes, and theaters, as well as the UC Berkeley campus. It's well appointed with a full kitchen, living room, and bedroom, and every room is spotless. The living room includes a large desk, which makes it a quiet, spacious setting for research and writing. Mary Kay is highly responsive, prompt, and a delight. I cannot recommend this location highly enough!

great value

This was perfect for me. I was there for two weeks to attend a conference at UC Berkeley. I booked specifically because of the kitchen facilities so that I could save money by cooking. I was surprised with how nice the place was for what I paid. Lovely bedroom and living room. Very cute neighborhood, conveniently located, short walk from a WholeFoods, and I had the whole place to myself. Marykay responded quickly to all of my questions and issues.

Great location, quiet and clean

The apartment had everything I needed and was on a lovely quiet street, a 20 minute walk to the Berkeley campus. It was close to shops and restaurants. I enjoyed my stay and was delighted with how everything worked so well.

Location was great. Owner was nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Place wasn’t very clean.

Wonderful location and floor plan. Bed was comfortable. The place was superficially clean. Pots, pans, plates, glasses, and silverware were all kind of gross. Admittedly I have a bit OCD. The home was stocked with 1 roll of toilet paper, and 1 trash bag for a week. There was no sponge provided to do dishes except old used ones. The coffee pot lid was filled with some old fluid. The renter above is heard 24/7 not that they were loud or disrespectful, just the floor is thin. Parking can be tricky. It is plentiful but you will need to go to the city and purchase daily visitor parking passes for the days you will be parking. Plus the signs must be paid attention to as there is a lot of verbiage and you can’t always park even with a pass. $49 ticket cost for parking on a street sweeping day (different day for each side of street). Neighborhood seemed very safe. Many things within walking distance.

We loved our stay in Berkeley!

The proximity to many nearby restaurants was thoroughly enjoyable and the apartment contained everything necessary for a long stay. Although it wasn’t an issue for us the lack of parking could have been a huge inconvenience. Your car must be moved every 2 hours during the day. Mary Kay proved very helpful offering dining suggestions and a great idea for BART parking. Thank you Mary Kay!

This was a perfectly adequate apartment for my needs while in Oakland. Clean and functional.

This apartment was located in a quiet, safe neighborhood. The walk to downtown Oakland was less than 30 minutes, an easy stroll through a nice neighborhood. Two blocks away from the apt. is a clean laundromat, quick mart, restaurants, theatre, hospital and local shopping. I would most certainly stay here again if in the area. The landlord and the neighbors were very nice and ever-so-helpful when asked. Great place to stay!

Comfortable & Cozy stay

The property is very well maintained and equipped. It is cozy and well-lit. We had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed using the kitchen as well. It's very accessible to different parts of Berkeley and is on a calm and quiet street. The only minor downside was low wifi connectivity in parts of the house. Overall, a great experience!

Wonderful apartment - great neighborhood

This is my second stay here. I really like the neighborhood with restaurants, shops and grocery stores all within waking distance. Easy access to BART and into San Francisco. The apartment kitchen is well equipped and the other tenants are quiet.

Very nice apartment in a great location

The unit is on the ground floor of a small apartment building on the lot behind a house in a very nice, quiet, residential neighborhood. The owner lives in the house and is very nice and responsive to any issues. The apartment is a good size for 2-3 people and very well stocked with lots of kitchen gear. This was a perfect set up for me as I was in town working for a week. There are lots of very good restaurants within easy walking distance along with a couple of grocery stores. The BART station is a twenty minute walk away. I highly recommend this HomeAway property if you are looking for a place to stay in Berkeley in a vibrant neighborhood.

Good location. Safe neighborhood, great value.

This one bedroom is very comfortable and quiet. It had everything we would need. The proximity to Berkeley is great. It's a good value for this area. The owner was kind, responsive and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here on our next visit to Berkeley.
