We are a Greek family from Zakynthos, and this villa is something we built with real care — not as an investment project, but because we wanted to create somewhere that does justice to this extraordinary corner of the island. We know every olive tree on the property.
As locals, we are genuinely useful to have on your side. We know which tavernas are worth the drive and which ones are coasting on tourist footfall. We know the quiet beaches that don't appear on the main maps, the best mornings to visit Navagio before the day-trip boats arrive, and the local boat captains who will take you to sea caves and turtle spotting areas that most visitors never find. We are always happy to share this — just ask.
We particularly enjoy hosting guests who want to experience Zakynthos properly rather than just sit by a pool for a week. Not that there is anything wrong with sitting by this pool — we do it ourselves whenever we get the chance. But the island has layers, and we love helping guests find them.
What we ask in return is simple: treat the villa as you would your own home. It has been built and maintained with a lot of love, and the guests who enjoy it most are always the ones who feel that and respect it in kind.

We chose this hillside above the Bay of Laganas for one reason above all others: the view. From up here, you can see the entire sweep of the southern coastline of Zakynthos — the deep blue of the Ionian, the curve of the bay, the green hills rolling down to the sea. It never gets old. Guests tell us they spend hours just sitting on the veranda watching the light change.
What we love most is the contrast the location offers. You are completely removed from the noise and bustle down below — up on the hill, all you hear is birdsong and the breeze through the olive trees. Yet within a few minutes you can be at a quiet beach, a family-run taverna serving fresh-caught fish, or the edge of the National Marine Park of Zakynthos, where loggerhead sea turtles come ashore to nest each summer. Watching a sea turtle in the wild, on a protected beach at dusk, is one of those experiences that stays with you.
The south of Zakynthos is also perfectly placed for exploring the rest of the island. Navagio — the famous Shipwreck Beach — is an hour's drive north and absolutely worth it. The island's vineyards, the Byzantine museum in Zakynthos Town, the boat trips through the sea caves — there is always something to do, but never any pressure to do it. Most of our guests tell us they end up spending far more time at the villa than they planned. That's exactly what we hoped for when we built it.

Buena Vista Villa sits on one of the highest points in the area, and that elevation is what makes it truly different. Most villas in Zakynthos are set in flat, enclosed plots — you have your pool, your garden wall, and not much else to look at. Here, the land drops away in front of you and the entire southern coastline of the island opens up. The 180-degree view from the pool is the kind of thing that makes guests go quiet when they first see it.
The pool itself is larger than most — 9 metres long, properly sized for adults who want to actually swim rather than just cool off. The pool area faces west, which means late afternoons and sundowners by the water with the sun setting directly over the Ionian Sea.
The villa is also one of the very few properties in Zakynthos sitting within minutes of the National Marine Park — home to the largest nesting population of loggerhead sea turtles in the Mediterranean. Between June and August, guided dusk visits to watch turtles coming ashore to nest are bookable locally and are genuinely unforgettable.
And then there is the quiet. The hilltop position means that despite being close to everything — beaches, tavernas, the ferry, the airport — the villa exists in its own world. No road noise, no neighbours visible, no sense of being in a resort. Just the view, the pool, the breeze, and the sound of the island doing what it has always done.
