From the start, Kat was responsive, concise, and friendly. Their home is large, airy, comfortable, and in a fantastic location at the base of the Collegiate Peaks; literally down the street from Cottonwood Pass (third highest peak in the state!) and other easy, fun day trips to Salida (15-20 minutes away for additional shopping and places to grab food), Leadville, Breck! It’s close to Independence Pass if you are brave (I’m not, lol.) Everything was spotlessly clean (we brought our own COVID supplies on our trip but there were cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink). The kitchen is well-appointed and we made good use of the washer and dryer. Our dogs were in heaven in the huge backyard, which was full of interesting plants, visiting birds, and we even saw bunnies :) My husband and I spent late afternoons/early evenings bird watching on the bench swing with a glass of wine. The house does not have cable, but the WiFi is very fast and you can stream movies or watch DVDs (they have many of my all-time faves, including the Dark Crystal). Kat said this house is where they come to unplug and I feel that was a good description for our stay as well. I spent a lot of time relaxing on the comfy couch reading and my husband spent a lot of time cooking. We enjoyed takeout from Pancho’s down the street (cute little Mexican food spot), found lots of vegan food essentials at the City Market, and took our mutts to the Rodeo Grounds around the corner to run wild at the off-leash dog area. We appreciated the recommendations for local businesses. This home is a great value for the price and is truly a better alternative to more congested areas. We were social distancing so we did not partake in any outside activities this time but there are tons of spots for rafting, etc. closeby. One of my good friends told me that Buena (pronounced “Byuna”) Vista is her favorite area of the state and we see why!! We will definitely be back. Thank you, Kat—for you and your family’s hospitality and for the good vibes shared by your house.
