The Art Loft was such a unique, relaxing island experience! We had a great time! Now, if you’re a naive Midwesterner like me, mesmerized by the Island paradise view you get from the balcony of this rental, just keep in mind that “open air” means exactly that- open! no A/C and you may see bugs and mosquitos. That being said, it didn’t take away from the amazing atmosphere of this rental. (Just be sure to get the mosquito netting for the bed out of the closet the first night! Shenell also has tons of fans throughout the loft to keep air circulating and bug spray and incense. If you utilize these tools, you’ll feel right at home, I promise! Now that I’m home in the Midwest, I miss the open island air!)
The Art Loft’s location near the mountain top gives you a spectacular views of Charlotte Amalie with awesome sunrises and sunsets. It’s so relaxing to fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of birds and the fresh air. Take some time to relax and paint a painting of your own! I was able to truly unplug and relax on this visit.
The Loft is stocked with every supply you’ll need including dishes, cooking supplies, condiments, spices and oils, even a small cooler which fit over 10 water bottles and some food for lunch on the beach. Shenell even provides 2 beach chairs and beach bags to carry supplies in.
Make sure you get a rental Jeep or SUV- hurricane damage does make the roads a bit difficult and taxis are not easily accessible from this location. We ended up using Paradise Rental Cars, who never overbook. Definitely call them for your Jeep rental. LBJ taxis, with the driver Lecius, did save us the first night and he took us to the grocery store, after Budget didn’t have a rental car for us. Otherwise, taxis don’t like to come up that far most of the time. So, definitely call Paradise Rental!
Shenell was amazingly communicative and even brought us some baked goodies! We had a great time and will rent at The Art Loft again when we come to the island!
