Varenna

Great location and property exactly as seen and described. The apt was a bit utilitarian for my taste. You would not want to hang out during the day but if daily trips out and about planned it’s great. Location excellent for access to daily sites.

Great location

We had a lovely stay here. Its location is perfect just a 30 second stroll down to the ferry and a 5-10 min walk up hill to the train station. Collecting keys and dropping off egc might be a hassle for some. The apartment was as described with the sofa bed. Balcony was decent. We used the washer and air dried our clothes. It did get hot so used the small table fans provided. Didn’t cut it that much but it was only mid seventies outside in the day and nights were comfy. Grocery store is also right next door so we got to cook our breakfast everyday at home. I would stay here again

A few days in Varenna

We enjoyed our stay at Alexis House. It's an excellent location, close to the ferry. This was a great place to have a home base and then see all the other towns around the lake with the ferry. If you are taking a train there, be sure to arrange for a taxi to take you to the property management office to collect your key and take you back to the apartment. Otherwise, you are lugging your suitcases on the road and up and down the hill. There were a couple of minor blips which we'll advise the property manager directly. As with most reviews by people who stay here or at other properties, you bascially just sleep at the apartment.

Great location!

Perfect jumping off spot for lake visit -- walking distance to town, ferry, train. Basics supplied, but could have used more toilet paper for 2 women. You can buy at grocery down the street. Washer very handy! Extra towels were in bedroom storage unit. Breakfast buffet served at next door hotel, starting at 7 am for 5 Eu. Quick, friendly, bountiful. More lights in the kitchen would have helped; we brought out bedroom lamp to study maps at dining table. Very clean and all we needed for 3 days. Picking up the keys was a bit tricky in torrential downpour. Call Rita taxi for friendly pickup if need be. If neighbors are noisy, you will need earplugs.

Great location

Located within walking distance to train station and ferry. Clean apartment with nice views - can just see Lake Como. Helpful staff for booking and checking in.

The property was very clean and well supplied. Was nice to have washer in apartment. Property was very close to train and small grocery store. Easy walk to restaurants, water taxi and shopping. Apartment was great! Unfortunately no air conditioning during very hot weather. Could use somewhere to put soap and shampoo in the shower and additional towel racks in bathroom. Also, some ice cube trays.

Great location!

Very easy check-in and quick walk to the apartment. The location is great because you can walk from the train station easily, as well as to the town center. Lots of space for family of four.

Fantastic location, very nice flat.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is wonderful. Access to the ferry could not be easier. Let me preface this by saying that I have some mobility issues. The ferry was about 2 blocks down a cobblestone walkway or you could walk a bit further to the nearest intersection and follow the street. Neither was terrible difficult for me. There are restaurants close by near the ferry stop and the train station is also within walking distance. The flat was nicely appointed, clean and well kept. It is located on the first floor reached by an elevator and there are a dozen or so steps to the main entrance. Furniture is all in good repair and sturdy. The bed was ok, but I am larger in size and it might be better for someone smaller (bed preferences can be highly subjective). The washer worked well as did the drying rack. There was a hair dryer and fans. There is no air conditioning in the apt and Wifi is an extra charge for a hot spot. Linens were all in good shape and clean. Again our stay was very nice, and location and accessibility were two of my main concerns. Varenna makes an excellent base for seeing Lake Como. Alessia (host) was wonderful and very helpful. My only critiques were the shower was very tight for me, but I find this is true of most showers in Europe. Larger folks should be aware though, there will be no bending over. It was difficult to tell from the photos and bathroom configuration is always something I look at closely. We were in Varenna 3 days and enjoyed our stay. Had we been there longer or in the summer, it might have been more problematic. Again is was aesthetically pleasant and comfortable otherwise. We really liked the art work and enjoyed our stay very much.
