We loved our stay here. Our family of 5 visited in the heat of August and made great use of the local pool and some smaller ones in surrounding villages. We loved wandering through the old passages and stairways, the town is just so full of character! Air conditioning was a godsend on a couple of hot evenings, the beds are comfortable and we all slept really well (although the endless barking of a neighbour's dog was a little irritating ). The kitchen is small and cleverly laid out with a lot stored high and accessed by steps. A cheese grater would have been welcome and pot pourri in the salad bowl was pretty but meant we couldn't actually use it. The kids were thrilled to have TV with Disney channel! There is a laundromat at Intermarché. We would have loved some guidance on waste segregation - we separated our recycling and left it, hoping for the best, but after having checked out I spotted municipal recycling, and even community compost (near the pool, actually!) which we would have gladly used. In all, I can imagine Casa Sofia would be a great place to visit anytime of year and I hope we can visit again some day.

Sehr netter Empfang und guter Kontakt zum Vermieter. Ferienwohnung war in Ordnung. Bis zum Meer an den Strand sind es ca. 35 min mit dem Auto.

Spacious modern apartment in a wonderful town

This is a spacious apartment in an old, maze-like part of Monchique. The apartment is hard to find, as is parking the first time, but once you figure out the maze, you appreciate Monchique all the more. The neighbors across the street who greet you are wonderful people, and despite their not speaking English, everything is pretty well communicated. We enjoyed Monchique's access to hiking trails (the Via Algarviana runs through Monchique, and the hike up to Foia is worth all the effort, and up to Picota even more so) and its overall character. The apartment is in a lovely quiet part of town (save one dog who may bark until its person comes home). The bed is very comfortable, and the kitchen is simply but adequately equipped. We cooked in successfully. If you want to be in a quiet part of the Algarve, away from the tourists, traffic, and crowds, this is a great choice.

If you are looking for a very nice and modern apartment, you should choose this one! english speaking whatsapp-contact is answering all questions regarding our booking, before and while our stay. In Monchique you get the keys from the friendly neighbours. They dont speak english but that wasnt a problem at all. The rooms are modern and very clean with a stunning kitchen I would love to take back to my home ;) The apartment isnt easy to find and we got stuck in the small Monchique streets. Follow the route on the map you get before your stay. Parking is easy around the marked spots, only a minute away from the apartment.

この宿泊施設のオーナーになった理由

originally we thought of getting a little family holiday home by the Coast, we know the Portimao / Lagoa area well so we thought this would be a good option but on our travels we found ourselves up the Mountain and quickly realised that we wanted a holiday home to relax and slow down and in bustling algarve in the summer in particular doesn't really let you do that as much as we would like. Monchique is just that old fashion Portugal in a beautiful setting in Algarve highest peaks. surrounded by vast nature, it boasts of tranquility, genuine local hospitality, some amazing food that is still being produced using old fashion natural and organic methods. We feel that we still have a lot to learn about Monchique and now that the apartments are pretty much finished, we look forward to our future visits and exploring furthermore as a family

main benefit has to be how tranquil it is for a village centre. if you love nature you're in a great spot and if you have transport, you can pretty much go anywhere in the algarve with some ease. you can be at the beach in less than 1/2 hour and you can choose from the southern busier coast or more relaxed west coast. there's a natural spring spa which everyone seems to say that boasts from all sorts of health benefits. it apparently brings people from all over the country even some of the celeb types. not that we'd personally case but we do look forward to taking time to experience it and see what the fuss is all about... look forward to update this at some point soon
