The location makes all the difference! This is a humble but cozy cottage. It has a covered porch looking out over Round Pond, so we were able to enjoy the setting from the porch even through the recent Nor’easter. And it’s a pleasant 1/2 mile walk on a little traveled lane to Tappens beach.

Perfect Spot

Wonderful cottage for single, couple or compact family. Great onsite management, great communication and delivered clean with everything you need for a idyllic stay.

On the positive side, the view of the pond and bird life from front porch is lovely. There’s a short walk to two beautiful beaches. Outdoor shower is excellent. Little Compton is a wonderful quiet place to visit.On the downside the cottage is rather shabby inside and out, and was not very clean. Kitchen and utensils need updating. The one bed is way too small and one of us had to sleep on the pull-out couch. TP, kitchen and bath towels were in very short supply. “Washer/dryer on premises” is a bit deceptive. 100yd walk to the main house to do laundry is not convenient and is hardly on-premises. Outdoor grill is decrepit, rickety, and dirty, with no work table for food prep. Indoor oven held an unwashed sheet pan covered in grease and char. The rusty refrigerator could use an update. As far as value is concerned we have stayed in two other VRBO’s in Little Compton for about the same price. Both were much cleaner, better supplied, and much more up-to-date and comfortable. We paid too much for what we got. We left the place much cleaner than we found it. Sweeping was a bit of a chore using the dirty and very beat-up broom and dustpan found in the water closet. On the plus side, when we called the manager for supplies she was quick to respond and very apologetic. With some serious upgrades this little cottage would be a gem!

Quaint , Cute ,Quiet, Nice walking to beach, nice porch overlooking round pond Sakonnet Lobster Co, is a short bike ride away, you can pick up chicken lobsters , ride home and have a local lobster and fish corn on the cob dinner!

Fabulous.

We have been coming to Little Compton for decades, and this is by far our favorite location. Sitting on the front porch, there is no need to go anywhere, because you are already "there" in that you are looking at a peaceful saltwaterish pond (with an active and varied bird population -- they also vacation in L.C.). You can see a sliver of ocean and can hear it, but are sheltered from ocean winds should they act up. But you will want to walk to the beach, and the walk is as good as walking on the beach itself-- quiet and country lane-ish, with intermittent views of ocean and rocks. This is a small cabin -- it was the two of us most of the time -- with one guest on the sofabed for a few nights --and that was fine. This cabin is 100 years old and feels it, in a good way, solid old hardwood floors etc. (No modern granite countertops, and who cares, if you need to have that bring your own.) Hidden highlights of the interior included a totally classic vintage Electrolux vacuum cleaner, the tube kind that looks like a fat dachsund (it works fine, we took pictures of it, we wanted to take it for a walk on the beach but didn't), an equally vintage Waring blender (works better than modern ones, though of course there is a food processor and all the other stuff you need), and something called a Swing-o-Matic, straight out of the 50's, who knows what it does. These were surprises we genuinely appreciated. But it was basically idyllic, the price was decent which was a big factor, and we will be back.
