This is my second time staying at Catfish Cottage, and it won’t be my last. First of all, the location is heaven on Earth for lake lovers. Nestled in a not very busy cove, with a private dock, loaded with kayak gear and floats, it’s hard not to fall in love with this destination. A 30 minute kayak or canoe paddle takes you to where the Watauga River meets the lake, and there is something magical about that spot for me.
The cabin itself is stocked better than any other vacation rental I’ve ever stayed. Pat really makes sure you have everything you might need. Sipping coffee on the porch, watching the birds and hummingbirds at their feeders, sipping coffee while you watch the fog roll off the water is the perfect start to the day. The fire pit by the water is perfect for making smores, and Pat always makes sure to supply them for you. I haven’t seen as much of the world as some people, but Catfish Cottage is my favorite place on Earth so far.
