ハーミテージハイダウェイホームステッド

We are James and Rachael, the proud owners and caretakers of Hunter Gleann.

Our journey here was driven by a simple dream: to escape the hustle and create a peaceful haven in the heart of the Hunter Valley where people could truly slow down, reconnect, and soak up the magic of wine country. When we first laid eyes on this 14-acre hilltop property on Hermitage Road—with its sweeping views over our olive groves, neighbouring vineyards, and the rugged beauty of the Brokenback Mountain Range—we knew we had found somewhere extraordinarily special.

Transitioning to farm life and hospitality has been an incredible adventure. Whether we’re tending to our olive trees, spotting resident kangaroos roaming the acreage, or putting the finishing touches on the properties for our guests, we love every minute of it.

For us, being hosts is all about sharing this slice of serenity. There is nothing quite like hearing how much our guests enjoyed their morning coffee overlooking the vines, walked across the paddock for a phenomenal dinner at Restaurant Botanica, or gathered around the fire pit under a clear Hunter Valley sky.

We’ve poured our hearts into making Hunter Gleann a place where families can celebrate, friends can reunite, and couples can escape. We can't wait to welcome you, help you discover our favorite local spots, and share the relaxed luxury of our little pocket of the Hunter!

There is something undeniably magnetic about Pokolbin, and the moment we discovered Hermitage Road, we knew there was nowhere else we wanted to be.

Widely considered the premier artery of the Hunter Valley, Hermitage Road offers an incredible blend of world-class sophistication and laid-back country charm. We fell completely in love with the sheer beauty of the landscape—the way the afternoon light hits the Brokenback Mountain Range, the endless rows of neighbouring vineyards, and the peaceful, rolling acreage that makes you feel a million miles away from the everyday rush.

What makes this area truly special, though, is the lifestyle and community. You are surrounded by some of Australia’s finest cellar doors, award-winning restaurants, and artisan producers, yet it retains an authentic, welcoming rural soul. Being perched right here means you can spend your day exploring boutique vineyards, bike-riding along the dedicated Hermitage Road cycleway, or wander through our olive grove, and still be just minutes away from major concert venues and gourmet dining.

For us, choosing this area wasn't just about buying a property; it was about embracing a way of life. We wanted a place where we could grow our own olives, watch native wildlife roam freely, and—most importantly—share this breathtaking pocket of wine country with travelers looking for their own unforgettable escape.
