Overall we enjoyed our stay here. The house is a bit older but has charm. We ran into a few hiccups with our stay that if resolved for future guests could make it a great rental. I understand we may have been the first renters, so some problems were perhaps to be expected. The house is nicely located in a pleasant neighborhood that is an easy drive (or bike ride) to the beach. It is a bit too far to reasonably expect walk, unless you’re ambitious. The house came with a parking pass, which was a huge plus and made our daily trip to the beach very convenient. It was generally clean, but due to COVID and the extra time that was needed for cleaning per the rental agreement, we were surprised to find some food wrappers in the bedrooms and popsicle wrappers in the sunroom. The mattresses would definitely benefit from an upgrade and the kitchen was not particularly well equipped. There were a few too many of the owners possessions left about that should probably be put away if only to lessen the burden on parents reminding their kids not to touch. The outside shower could use a door/curtain and was in need of leaf removal during our stay. The biggest issue we had was that the ultra-modern alarm system that was apparently active during our stay and went off on more than one occasion (at one point announcing - yes, the system can talk - that an intruder broke a window when we dropped silverware in the kitchen). Deactivating the system cost us the better part of an evening on the phone with the owner and the alarm company. That said, the owner was very responsive and after our experience I can’t imagine her ever letting the same issue happen again. We were told to expect a modest rebate for our troubles, which seemed very modest and as of this writing never actually came. Overall we enjoyed the house and had a great time in Bethany and the setbacks we experienced are easily correctable.
