Overall the property was as listed. It was definitely a personal home. The cameras in the main living areas did make us feel like we were being watched a little. There also was minimal hot water in all 3 bathrooms - we turned on using the owners instructions but still found the water to be luke warm at best. The dish washer did have dirty dishes in it and the fridge had lots of personal food. Over all it was not an issue but good to keep in mind when booking personal properties.

Great Charlotte Home!

We enjoyed our stay! The beds were comfortable and the place was clean. The screened-in patio and backyard were highlights for sure; both are so well done and great for adults and kids alike! The large projector TV was a fun bonus too! John was a gracious host that was very responsive and proactively sent us ideas for our family’s time in Charlotte. The house is John’s personal residence and as such has a different feel than most rental homes. His personal affects are throughout the house, which we didn’t let bother us. Another reviewer mentioned the security cameras, which are in the common living room spaces only. We found them understandable; if we were offering our home for short-term rental we’d do the same.

Colin is successful in his career and overhaul just gets it. You don’t have to tell him to pick up the outdoor furniture so you won’t drag it on the hardwoods. He just inherently knows how to be responsible. I couldn’t tell anyone had even been in the house upon my return. I’d rent to Colin again without hesitation.

Home Away from Home Jewel

Great accommodations provided by this owner and property. However, some challenges with utilizing the bathroom water in 2 out of 3 bathrooms available. TVs play then automatically turnoff as if on timer. Cameras installed in places made you feel like you're being watched, which made it a little uncomfortable. Neighbors were definitely on point in checking on us to make sure we were not trespassing as we were still on back patio enjoying the fellowship as late as 2, 3 4 am. Not loud just chatty. Overall, great home.

Water is available in all 3 bathrooms. In the lower bathroom. The valve can be a little tricky in the shower—you just turn it slowly as you pull it out to turn on the shower. I stream all of my TV’s. Perhaps the internet was spotty the night of the rental. I’ve rarely seen the TV’s have to rebuffer, but if you just change the channel, it resets immediately. The security cameras are very obvious —they are just for the front and two back doors as part of my security system. I usually walk through with my guests, but wasn’t able to due to their schedule I believe, but could have reviewed some of the TV and Shower valve issues and probably would have helped having any issues.
