Great stay

My family and I had an amazing long weekend at this home and the beach, 5 STARS. The house had everything we needed. Pot and pans, dishes, cups toiletries, towels and much more to list. It was clean and everything was functioning properly. The only recommendation that I have is to bring plenty of skin bug spray and citronella candles for outside because the mosquitoes are fierce down there so be prepared to fight off the hoard.

I have visited the Galveston area since I was two years old. This year we decided to stay in Surfside. Having never rented from Evolve we took a chance. What a great trip and house! Everything was as promised - clean, prepared, supplies, and perfect for my needs. We loved every minute and I will certainly not hesitate to use Evolve again. Kudo's to the owners for a wonderful house, and to Evolve for a great experience. Janet, my local contact, was exceptional, which was an added bonus!

Surfside vacation

First off there was a problem with key lock and a key was left in bbq in a baggy and if we went anywhere we had to put it back as there was plumbing problems. So plumber was out two days in a row. There was an ant problem in kitchen sink. A couple of light fixtures in bedrooms had either a big cockroach or water bug. Dead rat by outside shower. Also the ramp was great for ADA-friendly but no shower bars to help. Beds were uncomfortable. Luckily we were so close to beach as we spent most of the time there. We will go back to Surfside, but not this house.

Great location and plenty of potential...

First and foremost, this review has NOTHING to do with the property manager who was AMAZING and did everything in her power to accommodate us during our stay. Although this property has a ton of potential, it needs a few things cleared up to make it higher rated. Below are just a few things that made our trip a little less desirable.... 4 bath towels for a property stating it sleeps 8 people. No one would or should cook on the BBQ pit that was on site...it was rusted and literally falling apart as you touched it. The fans in the master and first bedroom did not work. There was no remote control for the master TV or the 2nd bedroom TV. The bed coverings (not sheets or pillow cases) are dated and stained. With that being said, the living area and kitchen were a plus and the bathrooms were great. All in all, a few changes and additions and this place will be a great find.

Rough Weekender

Unfortunately the place was dirty. First we arrived to check in and had to move the maggot infested overloaded trash can that had been siting under the home for weeks out from under the house. Kitchen pans were gross. Teflon pans were all scratched, greasey and ruined. The bedroom where the bunkbed’s are has a roof leak. The water will drip directly out of the ceiling fan and onto the bed. There were zero cleaning supplies in the home. Nothing to disinfect the tables or counter tops. The TV was dirty, greasey hands all over the screen and surrounding parts of the TV. This is the first VRBO we have ever stayed at where the owner tells you not to drop or raise the thermostat past a certain degree mark. Ceramic floor tile is broken throughout the kitchen. The positive…..it’s walking distance to the beach.

Great location! Easy beach access. Clean beach. From the front porch you can see the bay and watch the barges and boats. Great location close to restaurants. We walked to two different ones. House is clean and we had everything we needed.

The house was clean and well kept. It was very close to the beach which was very convention.

There are cameras monitoring the property so if you’re booking for 2 or 8 be sure to state the exact number of guest when booking. The cameras are monitored

Relaxing!!!

This house is a true gem! We had everything that we needed right there, the perfectly appointed house and the beach; we have never relaxed during a vacation as much as this one. The kids loved the short walk to the beach; the beaches were also super clean in this area. We were all truly sad when we had to leave.

Very close to the beach

Property is on the highway and just 2 mins walk from the beach. It was a nice stay for our group of friends over the weekend. There was enough bed rolls for our group. Property lacked certain things which we assumed to be there like coffee in the pantry or soaps and shampoo in the bathroom.

Beware!

Tub had red, smelly water for like 10 mins. Shower curtain was disgusting. Told us this was normal. No! Stayed in several properties in this area and never had this issue. Nasty. No hand towels, no wash rags. Nothing in information sent to us. Bedding - Signs on all beds to not use the comforters to save on resources. Instead, old, nasty comforters left for you to use. With COVID, This is not acceptable. Finally, Jan, contact person was nice in the beginning. She explained that the prior guests had wet, soaking clothes thrown in the dryer and ruined the dryer elements and had to replace the dryer. Née dryer in house. So to my surprise when washing swimsuit, opened the dryer and it was soaked with eater and foul smell. Let her know and her response was OMG. Coming over in 10. Upon arrival, she said she Googled it and blamed the humidity. I’m not stupid! Told me not to use dryer and leave it opened. I have a2 year old walking around. Really? Safety was not her concern. She then stated she was trying to get ahold of Evolve to move us. I never mentioned moving. Then gave me this excuse for a “New dryer”. It was hooked up to a 220 and no way it has water. It’s the humidity. Then she had me call to get it serviced. I paid almost $2000 for 3 nights and I’m suppose to call? Then He called me and I could hear him taking to someone and would not respond to my hellos. So I called back and said he’ll, you called me? He denies that he called. I said well your number is on my phone. He got really ugly and said he did not call. His pocket called. Then he got ugly and told me not to tell him what he did and then proceeded to be loud and I hung up. Called Jan and let her know I did not want that man on property or anyone else until we left. Explained what happen and she sent a text telling me I was wrong. He was not ugly. She knows because she was on a3 way call with me. Uh, Im the one that called him so how is that possible? Then she stated she spoke with owner and he said I’m more than welcome to leave but no refund. We never mentioned leaving. We just wanted the dryer to be safe to use. Then she sent this statement: Angela, I wanted to let you know that the home owner has installed cameras that record audio as well as video. This is to protect from scammers. They have an issue with the property and I am a scammer? I work for a vacation rental company and this was so inappropriate behavior on the cleaner/care taker, owner.

Great house, beautiful place

The house was clean and really nice. The roku on the TVs was really nice to have. We had a ton of fun! It was really easy to feel at home here. I also really appreciated the water hose to wash off sand before walking up to the house. 10/10 would recommend!

Not the best place for the money

Not the best location being close to the road, but its a short walk from the beach so all in all its fine. With Covid19, I expected much more from management in terms of cleaning between visitors. On the surface it looked fine, but when you discover historic dead bugs when you raise the blinds, it makes you wonder. Not sure all dishes etc have seen a detergent in their recent history too. Definitely they need to up their cleaning and sanitation if they expect to do business in this area. Why they are short on hand soap and bathroom tissue or a sponge for dishwashing is incomprehensive - spending $2 (out of whatever management fees they collect) on small things like that would have made it much better experience. All in all, ok location, good and easy communication, but, even before Covid19, I wouldn't go back there unless they start paying attention to those details.

Relaxing Vacation

Love the location. The house was equipped with everything we needed, Plenty of towels, blankets, trash bags, etc. We stayed the week and expected to need extra paper towels or other little things our big family used up. When we arrived everything was very clean, unlike some of the other reviews. If there were issues at first the management team seems to have worked all the kinks out. Over all it was a comfortable house just a short walk to the beach. We will defiantly stay again. ☀️🏖

Quick weekend getaway!

Easy walk to beach, very clean and looks all to be new. We really enjoyed our time and would recommend to anyone heading to Surfside. We were the first renters of the property, the only reason not giving a 5 star rating is we did not receive what and what was not provided prior to arrival. I had talked to the property manager about this already - so pretty sure everyone will receive that list now.
