Good base in need of some improvements.

Villa served as a good base to explore local areas all within walking distance, and also further afield via car and train with the local station being only a 10 min walk away.Owner Mark was prompt to respond to any queries which was appreciated. In our opinion the villa is in need of some updating and maintenance – pool loungers are uncomfortable as cushions are old, worn and very thin. Much needed shade is limited as whilst there is a canopy this does not block out sun for much of the day – a parasol on the table would be beneficial Mattress on double bed is very thin and uncomfortable. Outside area would benefit from an additional light for alfresco dining in the evening. Whilst the washing machine is useful the clothes airer is brokenThe bath mats are worn out and in need of replacement and locks on bathroom doors would be beneficial!We would have found a welcome pack containing general information about the accommodation and the local area helpful as on occasions pool maintenance man turned up unannounced and also a cleaner entered the property in our absence on the third day of first week which was not expected. In summary we had a enjoyable two-week holiday in this small rustic villa which served as a good base to explore quieter areas of the Eastern Algarve. However, we feel that the property is compromised by low standards of upkeep.

Very rustic 2 bedroom villa, just as advertised. In a nice quiet location, parking in drive and private pool. Everything you need in the villa. Ive given 5 stars as loved the place but few things could do with updating, especially outside sun blind. Had a couple of problems but owner replied and issues were resolved straight away.

Améliorations possibles

Malgré un routeur wifi qui ne fonctionnait pas bien, cette petite maison est sympa. Quelques améliorations sont nécessaires car la bane solaire est déchirée, le presse fruit est vieux, les plats sont petits, il manque une louche, une machine à café. Pour le reste, la situation, la petite piscine, la maison en général sont top.Merci à Mark pour sa disponibilité pour essayer de régler le problème de wifi.

Disappointed

I don’t normally leave reviews but I’ll make an exception in this case. Don’t be fooled by pictures- property is very tired and dark. I have stayed about 12 times in Cabanas and this was by far the most disappointed I’ve been. Just told a key was under mat when we arrived - no showing you the property and where anything was, and it’s wildly overpriced for what you get. I could go on but what’s the point. Will definitely not be returning to here.

Loved the little villa

Fantastic little villa! A little old fashioned but just how I like it! Great location just a 10 minute walk to fantastic restaurants and shops and where you can get a little taxi boat over to the lovely beach! Hosts were amazing ! Let us check in a little earlier because our daughter was unwell and super quick replying to my messages when I needed them! Would definitely go back again! Happy memories :) x

Peaceful place!

Loved this little cosy cottage. Situated in a great place about 10 mins walk from Main Street with restaurants & shops & beach. The only fault I could say is no full body mirror which could have come in handy for us ladies, the bathroom light is faint, & not much room for drying clothes. I did mount a string at the front of the garden which helped a bit. The pool also got dirty very quickly with the leaves & bugs so could do with a more regular clean! Everything else was perfect, thank you and we shall definitely recommend and hopefully stay again soon!!!

Holiday in the garage

Bilder sind sehr gut aufgenommen, zeigen nicht das wirliche Anwesen. Alles wirkt auf den Bildern gross und schön, ist es aber nicht. Pool ist bestenfalls ein Whirlpool. Keine schöne Pflanzen im Garten. Das Haus links (Nachbarhaus) ist verlassen, der Garten gleicht einer Grünmüllhalde; das Haus gegenüber ebenfalls verlassen und verrottet. Wird stark von Katzen besucht. Kein schöner Anblick wenn man im Garten sitzt. Die Katzen sind auch sofort auf dem Plan wenn eine Tür oder ein Fenster geöffnet wird. Das Haus ist dunkel , da nur auf Vorderseite Fenster. Das zweite Schlafzimmer ist eine umgebaute Garage und wirkt auch so. Die Bäder sind aus dem "vorletzten" Jahrhundert. Die hintere Terasse: 2 qm , man schaut direkt auf eine Wand, keine Sonne. Wir wollten 8 Tage bleiben, sind nach einer Nacht umgezogen . Meine Anmerkungen habe ich dem Vermieter mitgeteilt, keine Reaktion.

Bonne location

Location agréable, située non loin des cabanes de Tavira et des restos (5-10mn à pied). Location agréable, chambres grandes, 2 sdb donc pratique. Idéal pour 2 couples et surtout un couple avec deux enfants. La piscine est située devant la maison mais pas génant car pas de vis - à -vis.

Rustic, basic, peaceful

Enjoyed a peaceful week in a none typical accommodation. It was very clean, quaint, pool is a nice touch and professionally put together. It was down a quiet if “in need of repair” street and nowhere near the seafront or strip of bars and restaurants. That area was only a 15-20 minute walk away. It was a surprise after only seeing the photos that the pool is in the front garden and there’s no back to speak of (other than a fantastic lemon tree). The road was so quiet that laying in the sun or pool was still secluded for the most part. The streets of the neighbourhood were well worn and in disrepair in some cases, especially the roundabout around which the quaint streets resided. Adding to that the dogs barking in protection of their properties the first few nights and it was “interesting”. (We made friends with some of the big dogs and by the end of the week they were expecting us ☺️). Other things you expect a little of “rustic”. The second bedroom was remodelled from the garage. It’s very small overall but we loved that. The bathrooms were well worn and bath drained with difficulty. The appliances were very old. But the experience great. The only real negative was the bed which neither of us slept well in. We enjoyed our time and enjoyed being central to the village so walking distance to several very good restaurants and grocery stores. Many thanks to Mark as well for saving us when locked out as there was a secret buried key. 👍

"A perfect traditional Portugese getaway!"

We stayed for 2 weeks and loved our time in this beautiful house! Villa De Mar was very comfortable, clean and in a great location; it was more than we expected and everything we needed! Just minutes to Cabanas beach and within easy walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants, also only a very short drive to the historic town of Tavira We can't wait to come back. Thank you for the great memories!

Our lovely holiday

We stayed in this lovely accommodation in September this year and had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation was outstanding and everything was provided to a very high standard. The location was perfect for the beach and Cabanas itself. The owners were extremely helpful throughout. Thank you for a great holiday.

Little Gem

Absolutely beautiful villa, we had a lovely holiday there with my partner and little girl. The pictures do not do the villa justice as the pool is bigger than it appears and the rooms are stylishly decorated. The villa is extremly clean and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It is in a fantastic area within easy reach to the nearby restaurants and very close to the beach. The shops have everything you would need from lilos to milk and the supermarket is less than 10 minutes walk away. Me and my family would defiantly love to visit this villa again. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Peace Perfect Peace

A Beautiful Villa, Pool and Gardens and very friendly and helpful owners. We very much enjoyed our stay, the Villa is well equipped and maintained and has everything you need for a quiet relaxing holiday. Well placed for a choice of local restaurants and a little further to the main water front where there are numerous restaurants and shops. If you like the beach, there is a perfect beach in Cabanas and many more not that far away. All in all we had a thoroughly great time and will hopefully return soon.

Fantastic villa for a family holiday.

Can’t recommend Villa De Mar enough, superb villa, the location is central 5 mins walk to shops & 10 mins walk to the beach. We had a lovely weeks stay with our son and daughter. The Villa is spacious, clean, fresh, airy and kept to a very high standard. Private pool / sun loungers & outdoor dining area were great. Would highly recommend.

As described a 'Rustic House'

Very nice with everything you need without being a luxury villa. The ladies would have liked a full length mirror somewhere in the house. The fans provided were good for the bedrooms, unfortunately one fan stopped working and although the man who came round to fit a new light bulb said he would report it and get another sent, it did not appear. The pool and BBQ area were excellent with the pool being large enough for 4 people albeit without swimming. One thing lacking was an information pack eg. Phone numbers for doctors/hospitals/pharmacies and restaurants etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

What a find.

From beginning to end, this is by far the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in after many years of travel. The property is a real home from home with all that you need including a location that offers it all if you simply want to unwind and relax. The house is fully equipped, the pool is outstanding and the grounds are very private. With the best restaurants in the area on your doorstep, what more can you ask for! However, what separates this place from the rest is the attention to detail and the very friendly and caring owners - they simply cannot do enough to ensure all goes to plan. Thank you.

Cosy, close to bars and restaurants

The villa/bungalow had most things to accommodate us. The pool was cleaned regularly and the outside space was lovely with a veranda and BBQ. On the penultimate day my children spotted a rat running along the guttering of the villa. We informed the owner who said he would contact the local authority to investigate. Thankfully it wasn't on the first day. The showers were very slow in draining the water which might be normal in Portugal (it was my first time there) but it made the shower dangerously slippery. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main bars and restaurants - I would recommend booking these. I recommend the Jolly Sailor and Vert in. The train line was very close by and we went to Lidl in Tavira on the train and got a cab back to the villa. Any problems we had were sorted quickly as Mark responded promptly.
