Memorial Weekend Escape

We had a great stay! The home had amazing views, perfect location, easy access to Banner Elk and other area features—the quiet was perfect busy family members! The home is a wonderful knotty pine accented hideaway that has cozy spaces for each person — well furnished and equipped, the property has the customer’s every need thought out and provided. We loved the downtime to simply see the beauty of sunrises and sunsets!!!

Amazing House, Incredible Location

My number one goal when looking for a mountain vacation was a beautiful house with a beautiful view. This house accomplished both and then some! House was spacious, extremely clean and perfect a family vacation. And the view? Breathtaking. Can't beat it!

We got what we asked for! What a lovely home! Driving up the mountain is a true and unique experience. Exactly what we were looking for for Christmas! The home is lovely, cozy, spacious, and has everything a family needs. The kitchen is amazing, with everything you may need - cooking, baking, grilling… all utensils, dishes, and kitchen appliances. Everything! Host is amazing! We will be back!!!

The place is awesome. Just as described. Having 2 garages for the winter is a must. So convenient.Top ski lift just a minute drive away so easy to drop skiers off. No parking though.The weather was not perfect but because of the accommodation we had a great time. Have a 4 wheel drive for the winter. Or chains.The hot tub was great after skiing.The wall heaters upstairs were a bit noisy for a light sleeper like me but the place was nice, warm and cosy.

The pictures do not do this home justice! Located on the top of the mountain with some of the best views of Beech Mountain! This home was extremely clean and fully stocked with anything you would need. The chair lift was a short drive down from the house which made it super easy to ski/snowboard. Our family really enjoyed the hot tub, it was very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this property and can’t wait to make another to Sky Barn!

Sky Barn is an amazing home on the tip top of the mountain with an amazing view and an amazing sunset. The house is cozy and comfy and has everything you need. Kitchen is stocked amazingly with spices, olive oil and all the kitchen supplies you need to cook. Towels are great quality and the master bed is heavenly! Take note that you are on the top of the mountain so make sure you have what you need as it is not a quick run to the store if you forgot something. Highly recommend the house and will definitely rent again if we return to the area.

Great start to summer

Beautiful home on top of Beech Mountain. Plenty of room for the whole group to cook and eat a meal together or for people to break into smaller groups, working on puzzles, playing games, hot tubbing or enjoying the beautiful views on the back of front porch each with a fire feature. House is close to Emerald Outback Trails (<5 min.)for pleasant hiking trails. This house IS at the top of the mountain. So expect to drive 15-20 minutes to pick up basic necessities or for closest dinning. You will be driving further for a real grocery store or if you want to do any of the spring/summer activities. We loved the house, the scenery, and watching all the flora and fauna Beech Mountain has to offer.

Breathtaking views and great location

Absolutely the best family vacation ever on a mountain top with a beautiful view. We spent the weekend with our family in this most beautiful cabin ever, plenty of room, and the amenities were perfect. The fully stocked kitchen made it easy for us to prepare all of our meals. We’ve decided this will be a yearly getaway for our family. The large glass windows all around was the best for real mountain views. Hot tub was very spacious and relaxing. Mountain view from the hot tub was absolutely amazing. Fireplace was cozy and relaxing. We had fun playing foosball. Loved our experience. We would like to thank you for arranging fire woods as well. As It was a windy weekend, we were not able to use the firepit. Chrystol, the guest care supervisor is AMAZING as she truly cared her guests. Easy to get in touch with, very responsive and helpful when we needed them. A must rent cabin and definitely would recommend it. We will be returning soon!

WOW! Views for Days!

Our group had an amazing stay at Sky Barn! The location is perfect! This property has amazing views, stunning sunsets (oh the sunsets!!), is walking distance to the top of Beech Mountain Resort (direct lift access), and close driving distance to all of the nearby towns you'd want to visit. The house is beautiful and very comfortable; we felt right at home. We saw so many deer along the drive to/from the house; although we were disappointed that we did not get to see any bears, which we heard had been visiting shortly before our arrival. We did have snow flurries the morning we checked out, which was exciting for us Floridians! One thing to note, do your best to arrive before dark. Our flight was delayed and it was midnight by the time we arrived. It was lightly raining and in addition to the winding roads, the drive in the DARK and FOG was not something I would like to do again. I was so white-knuckled that I thought I may not leave the property again until it was time to check out. Fortunately, the fog lifted by late morning and we made our way out of the house. I definitely recommend the shortcut, it saves about 5 mins and the drive is much less winding roads and not on the edge of the road either. I would also recommend stopping at grocery store before heading up the mountain to check in.Highly recommend Sky Barn. Wonderful Spring Break in the NC mountains! Thank you!

We stayed 3 nights with some of our adult children and two grandchildren. We have stayed in this property before, and have always loved the view, which is unparalleled. But I must say that what the family has done recently to improve this house is significant and has made it the best of Beech. The glass railing on the deck, the hot tub with a view, the kitchen upgrades, demonstrate a lot of love and hospitality. We have stayed in a dozen houses on Beech over the years, and this is our favorite.

Find peace and awe again from the back porch of the Sky Barn.

Words and pictures really can't do this place justice. It was amazing. The house was well stocked, well decorated, and super cozy. The owners left many wonderful things to entertain ourselves, like TVs, puzzles, and games. But if you want to unplug and just take in the beauty of the North Carolina mountains, just book the Sky Barn. I spent hours watching the fog glide through the valley below or clouds consume a peak beyond. I spent hours watching incredible sunbeams and shadows dance along the nearly 180 degree view. I watched birds floating on thermals or landing in the trees below. Every evening, we stood on the deck taking in the last sunlight as the sun set behind the mountain ridge. Absolutely breathtaking view.

My family and I stayed at the Sky Barn for a Land of Oz visit. The location was absolutely perfect! Sky Barn was an incredibly clean and comfortable accommodation for our entire family. Chrystol was responsive and helpful with a few questions we had during our stay, including staying an additional night. Highly recommend for a mountain getaway!

Best Getaway EVER!!

There are no words to really adequately describe how amazing our stay was. The views alone are all this property needs but then you add the cleanliness, the decor, the space inside and outside…all really top notch. Everything was truly spectacular and our family had an amazing time.

Stunning views

This is a beautifully situated home perfectly positioned to view the sunset and the lovely valleys below. The surroundings were quiet. The house was well stocked and nicely decorated. The spa was immaculate and professionally cleaned mid week. Cozy robes were available in the master bath. Robes are so bulky to pack so this was greatly appreciated! Getting up to the house takes considerable time on a narrow and winding road so I would advise stocking up on groceries to avoid frequent trips out. We did have issues with our GPS not wanting to take the best path to the house. The property manager did send written instructions so once we got that route down we just ignored the GPS instructions. We knew when we initially booked this property that it clearly specified that it did not have AC. However, we found out later that AC was recently installed on the main floor. This was wonderful as all of those lovely windows let in a lot of afternoon heat regardless of the solar shades being pulled down so the AC kept it comfortable. The heat upstairs did make for some uncomfortable sleeping conditions. In all fairness, the weather was likely unusually warm the week that we were there so perhaps this is not usually an issue. The property manager did say that installing AC upstairs is in their future plans.

Amazing!!!

We had the best time! The views are unbelievable! We could see at least 8 firework shows going on. The house had everything we needed and then some! We cooked several meals with ease. The only complaint would be the master bedroom mattress. It had dips in both sides with a hump in the middle which makes for rough nights. We would still not hesitate to come back. Loved the little touches left by the host.

A Great Weekend Getaway

Four couples stayed in this house over a long weekend. Everything was in great shape and the manager checked in with us on several occasions to be sure all was going well. We had several questions which she answered promptly. One must climb stairs to get into the house and to reach three of the four bedrooms. If mobility is an issue for anyone, that needs to be taken into consideration. Everything about his house was first-rate. There were ample pots and pans and dishes for eight people. It is quite a drive up Beech Mountain, so be sure you have everything you need before you arrive. Several of our group hiked around the house while others went to Boone and visited some waterfalls in the area. It must be a much different environment in the winter when there is snow on the ground. We would certainly stay here again sometime in the future.

Beautiful home with a spectacular mountain view

It was a wonderful week, the perfect balance between relaxation and exploration. We spent the week with my sons family. In the evenings we enjoyed playing cards and watching the sunset. The hot tub and solo stove was a blast as well, especially with the kids. One evening we even grilled hamburgers outside. We highly recommend the local trails. Our favorite new find is lower pond creek. The hike features a series of small waterfalls and is a mile downhill one way. The house is absolutely stunning with wide range mountain views and was very clean and accommodating for our large group. Thank you Sky Barn Retreat!!
