This property has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and the evening sunset. It was very clean, well organized, and nicely equipped. Our family was comfortable and truly enjoyed the stay .

Beautiful View

We very much enjoyed our stay here. Relaxing time at the house with anything needed. It was also a quick drive to town and a short walk to the beach. House was older but expected for a lakehouse. View of Lake Michigan and sunsets was fantastic.

Birthday Adventure at the Northern Nest

The experience was amazing. We enjoyed the stay and the cottage was very very clean and decorated in a beachy theme throughout the complete cottage. Towels and bedding was top of the line soft and silky. The view was perfect looking out on Lake Michigan front view seat. The drive back into the private secluded cottage in the woods was also nice. I would stay again - privacy, cleanliness (house keeping people was amazing), decor was beautiful. Thanks again for the wonderful cottage stay and hoping to see you again in the future.

Relaxing weekend

We recently stayed here for a long weekend and enjoyed the cottage; looking out of the large windows to Lake Michigan - which is right there - was amazing. The cottage was quite comfortable and clean - the 5 of us had plenty of room.

Autumn stay on beach

I took my mom for a birthday celebration stay on the beach, and we loved it. The view is amazing, the decor was beautiful, very comfortable and homey. The communication with the host was easy and friendly. They were very informative and took care of our needs while we stayed there. We will definitely keep this on our list of destinations.

Some Quality Time

This property propelled us into a togetherness. The water with the beautiful sunsets, the bonfires, the walk to the beach to swim. The kids, ages 4 & 7 loved the bunk beds We would go back again.

Beach cottage in the dunes

Location was right on the lake, and across the lane from the dunes, but the cottage was a bit tired and not as up market as the photos depicted.

Beautiful View

This charming cottage was perfect for our long weekend vacation. The view was breathtaking and it almost felt like we were looking at an ocean. The breeze was lovely and the sound of crashing waves was calming. The floor plan was laid out nicely based on the space and the neighbors were pleasant. Gorgeous view!

This cottage takes a little bit to navigate to but the views upon arrival are worth it! The cottage is cute and clean and has the basic necessities. It’s been refreshed but it is still an older place so there are some things that come with that, like quirky heaters (we were there in April, still cool enough to need some heat at night), and outlets that don’t accept three-prong plugs (there are a few adapters in some of the outlets than can be moved around). None of that was enough to lessen our enjoyment but don’t go in expecting a brand new fancy schmancy locale. We loved it here and would stay again.

Cozy house on the water

We enjoyed our weekend on the lake at this cozy house on Lake Michigan. Excellent water views & nearby (walkable) beach/dunes at Silver Lake State Park. House is small but nicely decorated & very clean. Firepit is a nice touch for campfire on next to the lake. Fyi for longer stays it could be challenging since no washer/dryer.

Nice view of the lake

It was a nice clean cabin, recently redone. Lack of privacy, needs curtains or blinds facing the very close next door neighbors house. Was uncomfortable having the lights on in the house at night because of extreme visiblity from the outside looking into the house. The Neighbors are close enough to can hear them talk. View of the lake was amazing,

Lake Michigan VIEW

The cottage was cute and cozy. I have a thing for screened porches, and they had one with water view. The window view was wonderfully close to the water. My cousin and I sat in their comfy chairs with an ottoman for each of us. It was hard to get out of the chairs because the waves were wonderful and the sunsets were magnificent. Our visit was quiet and relaxing. The cottage appears to be an older one that has been updated with cabinets, furniture, etc. I thoroughly enoyed my stay.

Beautiful location overpriced

The place was decent and the pictures make it look worth the price. The cleaning fee was very high and was ended up cleaning up a number of things right when we arrived, and its a lot smaller than it looks. Cleaning few needed to be about $75. The shower in the bathroom is a hack job and spews water through the gap in the bottom of the door. The bedrooms are ok but the closet doors are just more of the incompleteness. Totally a work in progress being funded by overpriced rental cost and inflated cleaning fees. We were fooled into thinking it was a spectacular cottage but it was really only just ok. The good stuff: The location is amazing and the sunset over the water combined with the proximity to the dunes and national beach made it worth staying. Been to many that were significantly better at the same price though.

Lakefront cottage

The view of the lake from the living room and patio was lovely. Definitely the best thing about the house and why we rented it. It was great for a relaxing stay. Negatives: the screens on the windows had large holes and very dirty window sills, which was bad as there's no air conditioning. Also the cottage was a little musty smelling so we definitely wanted the windows open. The beach was a further walk than we realized, and too far to carry the kayaks. As we didn't have a truck that meant we weren't able to use them, which was disappointing as that was one of the things we were looking forward to (I mistakenly thought from the photos that we could put them in in front of the house). Also, the beach that was supposed to have private access was a state park, with a fence separating ATV's and dune buggies from the water. So unless you have a dune buggy, it wasn't a nice place to be. We were able to take a lovely long walk to the lighthouse, which got us away from the noise and bustle.

Dunes summer vacation

AMAZING. If you love the beach and want to be near the dunes this house is wonderful. You can’t beat the view! It was very cute, nicely remodeled and clean. It had everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was nicely remodeled also with a big shower. It was hot when we were there, I was worried it would be sticky without A/C but with the windows open and the fans it very comfortable. The bed was so comfortable! The beach is just a short walk and is our favorite beach in the area. You do have to accommodate a fairly steep hill to the beach. There are side ropes and a beach mat on the path to assist you but for someone that has health issues it may be difficult. We had no problem and our grandchildren easily maneuvered it as well all while carrying chairs and beach toys. You can hear the vehicles on the dunes but for us that wasn’t a problem at all. The deck was nice with a great view. We especially enjoyed the fire pit. Great campfires with the sound of waves crashing on the rocks - very therapeutic. We will definitely be coming back to this house!

Beautiful Lake Michigan View!

This is our second stay. We love the water view, and always enjoy a bonfire (wood provided). Lovely, cozy and clean cottage. Fans are provided. There's a large deck. Grill provided. FYI, there is no way to access the water or shoreline in front of this cottage, but a 10 minute walk will take you down a steep path to Lake Michigan. There is a little noise from the dune buggies driving on the dunes at Silver Lake during the summer. We rented an ATV to enjoy the dunes! Or catch a ride on Mac Wood's Dune Rides. Short drive to Mears for a few restaurants, ice cream, Craig's Cruisers, Little Sable Point Lighthouse, Lavender Labyrinth, Country Dairy Farm has cool tours/food, and Lewis Adventure Farm & Zoo is not to far.

Hidden gem!

We absolutely loved staying here! It was clean and decorated so cute. It is within walking distance to the sand dunes! It is also close to a wooded area that was perfect for walks as well. Tip: if bringing a trailer for sand dune toys you can park your trailer at Silver Hills campground overflow lot for $20/weekend.
