'The Lake House', Spacious Family Waterfront

Magic location. Relax and unwind. Peace and serenity in beautiful Hatepe. It’s perfect for both Winter and Summer, just 15 mins to Taupo/Turangi and 45 mins to the Mountain. Famous trout fishing, mountain biking and hiking. Our house offers kayaks for the whole family, bikes, and all your lakeside essentials. There are 2 separate, cosy living areas, 3 fireplaces and underfloor heating. The kitchen boasts one of the best views from anywhere and with dining either inside or out, you will love it!

The Area:
Hatepe is a world of it’s own. A beautiful, peaceful village filled with native trees and birds; perfect for a bush walk or quiet bike ride along the river. Hatepe has a 10km/hr speed limit, so it’s very relaxed and safe for children to play. The Village also has a Maori Marae, a fairly unique feature. The culture of the Village is rich and very interesting for overseas visitors. We are yet to find anyone that doesn’t fall in love with Hatepe!
There is no public transport so visitors must bring their own transport.

Getting Around:
There are no local shops, but there are excellent supermarkets within a 15-20 minute drive. Turangi New World supermarket does deliveries to Hatepe several days per week if you choose to buy your groceries online. You are welcome to bring your own boat if you have one, to enjoy some trout fishing, the numerous water sports or just a scenic day out with a picnic. Hatepe has 2 free boat launches and easy mooring right in front of our home to conveniently pick up other guests from the front lawn.

Ideal place for a getaway

A beautiful home that was perfect to relax, fly fish and not far to do some shopping in Taupo. We thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of a warm home.

Fabulous place to stay

We loved our week at the Lake House. It is a wonderful house right on the lake and had everything we needed. Lisa was great to deal with and we would highly recommend this bach.

We loved the house and the views. Was close to some very good fly fishing also. The house was very well equipped and accommodating. Will definitely stay there again if in the area.

Wonderful stay

The location right next to the lake is wonderful. We enjoyed the possibility of using the kayak. The parking space in front of the house was spacious. All appliances were working well and the house was very well equipped.

We had a really lovely weekend at the Lake House, it has everything you need plus more! It was warm, beds are comfy, plenty of bathrooms, loads of room for the family and soooo relaxing. An awesome spot. Totally recommend it.

Fourth visit - didn't disappoint

The weather wasn't consistently wonderful, but we still had a brilliant long weekend break. The house is perfectly situated and incredibly well-equipped for a family group. We will be back again.

Everything for fun

A fabulous spot with all the water toys to please everyone. Stunning location and views, comfortable beds, well stocked cupboards. Would recommend it to anyone. While Taupo was frantically busy, Hatepe remained peaceful and private. Brilliant holiday thanks.

Lakehouse Holiday

We loved our stay at the Lakehouse. Having the lake as our backyard was picture perfect, the view is beautiful. We originally booked for 2 nights but decided to stay an extra night because we loved it so much. Could have easily stayed longer! Would definately recommend. Just note that it is about a 20 minute essy drive into Taupo and no shops nearby. Plenty of nice places to eat in town when you get there. Overall, great stay!

The pefect Hatepe getaway

We come to Hatepe to stay with family and friends every year, and everytime we have walked past 'the lakehouse' we've said that we would have to stay if we ever get the opportunity. We absolutely loved our stay here, it is an amazing property and Lisa is a great host. Not only was the property in pristine condition but Lisa has thought of everything a visiting guest would need from games, sunblock and even labelled light switches! This is a dream location and we can't wait for our next opportunity to stay again.

Magical Place

We were a family group of three generations including a 5 month old baby. There were plenty of bedrooms and en suites in the large comfortable house., which was clean and well equiped. Under floor heating and an open fire kept the house warm. We were disappoined the under floor heating was turned off the evening before we departed. We had a relaxing stay and even caught a trout in the river. We certainly hope to return to your magical place.

Wonderful house and location

Stunning property in an amazing location. We loved staying here and the house was laid out really well for a large family group. Location is so great being right on the lake. Made everything so easy! House was well equipped with everything you could need for your holiday. The owners kindly set up a Christmas tree and decorations for us too which was really lovely. We would love to holiday here again!

Hatepe is the best destination in Taupo and the Lake House is simply the best property in Hatepe. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Superb house with unbeatable lake view and access

Clean, spacious, amazing view and access to the lake. Truly couldn't ask for more. Property has all of the amenities you need which is great - definitely not a bare bones property used purely for renting out.
