Ft. Myers is a completely different "flavor" than East Coast Florida. It is the sun, sand, and amenities without the glitz and rows of high rises. There is a lovely charm to one of the streets, McGregor Boulevard, which is lined with palm trees and takes you to the beaches. Ft Myers and Sanibel beaches are great, but I confess we spend 99% of our time on Sanibel beaches. This is an island that still exists without a traffic light, has prohibited high rises, has plenty of fantastic restaurants and families who are making lifetime memories. We also love our central location. A must-see is Thomas Edison's winter estate and laboratory, which is connected to the Ford winter estate. You can feel how his mind worked and admire how his perseverance paid off with discovery. When you don't feel like going anywhere far, there are many amenities less than a mile from the condo - grocery, drug store, Walmart, bakery, restaurants from pizza to Chinese to fresh fish, and more. If you don't even want to drive out of the condo community, then we have the largest pool in any Ft Myers development, heated. Tennis, workout room, community club house (I like the book swap nook where residents pick up or drop off books to share). It is a great community to walk in, no busy roads. You can walk back to the yacht club that is right on the Caloosahatchee River (say that 3 times!) and sit in the gazebo at sunset.
