Never rent from Long & Foster
The beginning of our stay was a nightmare, I will never rent from Long & Foster again. They are incompetent, have poor communication and do not have a good system in place if you need to reach someone.
It started when they did not tell me that there was no need for me to drive to Rehoboth beach, where their office is, to pick up keys for the rental property. In summer beach traffic, on a Saturday afternoon when many people are checking in this is over an hour long drive.
When I arrived at the Long and Foster office to check in, they informed me there was a lock box/code for the property, no key was needed. They provided the code and I did not make a big deal about it. I was on vacation and did not want to waste my time on anger or frustration.
However, when I arrived at the property, I found that a key was needed. While the code would work for the dead bolt, the door knobs were all locked, and we could not get in. I attempted to call all of the phone numbers that I had for Long and Foster, but no one answered. I called the number that was provided should you be “locked out” and got an answering service. They asked if I was sure that I rented from Long & Foster. They asked me the name of the property - when I gave it to them they said they had no property in their system with that name or address. I eventually called my own locksmith to gain access to the property. It was not clean, it was an old and dated property. Never again!!!
