Dan and Kay Petty currently live in Middle Tennessee and are Realtors. Dan is a native of Shelbyville and is retired from Jostens. He works as a Realtor alongside of his wife of over 48 years. Kay is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina and grew up visiting the beaches along the Carolina Coast. Kay graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with B.S. and Masters' degrees. She has been a full time real estate broker specializing in farm properties for 38 years. Tybee Island reminded Dan and Kay of the small beach towns they visited as children and over the years since they were married. The charm & history of Savannah and the small-town feel and comfort of Tybee Island captured their hearts many years ago. Looking toward retiring at Tybee Island in the future the couple continues to add and improve upon the cottage property that they enjoy visiting when possible. A new venture is the Boston Whaler boat that they purchased almost 8 years ago. Leaving the boat at the Tybee Marina when visiting it is just a short ride to several restaurants that have docks and Dan enjoys fishing. Their small dog Dixie Grace is beginning to enjoy the boat and really enjoys her time at the cottage. Another favorite of the Petty's is watching the sunset on the back river and shelling at low tide. Kay now has her real estate firm license in Georgia & experience in second home and resort properties.

Take a deep breath as you leave the beautiful city of Savannah and be prepared to allow your blood pressure drop and your mind rest. Taking Highway 80 cross over the Bull River leaving Wilmington Island. Turn your radio or stereo on and roll your windows down (leaving the air/heat on depending on the temperature and take a deep breath of "pluff mud." Allow the inland marshes to help you begin your calming process. Just before entering the city limits of Tybee Island you will cross over the Lazaretto Bridge and see the marina and shrimp boats. You are now officially on "Tybee Time." Memories at the Beach is a very short drive from this point. Continue on Hwy 80 past the post office, city hall, library and YMCA. You will also pass the IGA Market on the right and many of the Tybee local churches. At the traffic light at Stingrays Restaurant take a right and then a left on Jones Avenue. The Cottage will be on the right. If it is dark chances are the blue light will be on as well as the porch lights. Tumble out of your vehicle and stroll onto the front porch and follow your entry instructions. Your vacation begins! Whether you are on a single retreat for just one--welcome artists and authors, a reconnect trip with friends or family or downtime after a busy season, this is your place--home away from home. Visit, explore, find a new adventure or just stay inside and relax and read. It is your choice and this is the most perfect cottage to visit and enjoy what you choose to do. Please see our reviews. This cottage was previously managed by Mermaid Cottages and is now handled personally by the owners with the assistance of a local housekeeping company. Personal touches have been added and any questions are just a quick phone call away. The cottage received a Christmas gift of a new electric fireplace. Perfect to cuddle up with a good book and warm drink during our cooler months!

Enjoy sightseeing all day and retreat back to this comfy cottage. Guests rave about the location, porches and 2 separate living spaces. Walk to local restaurants, entertainment, the beach, sunsets or to fish. Bikes and golf carts are very popular. Rent from one of the local vendors or bring your own. There is a cart charging plug on the front porch. Just bring your drop cord. Compare the costs and see that a stay at the cottage with all of its amenities is a much better value than staying in several motel rooms. Plus "breakfast in" is so much easier when you have your own kitchen that you can stock as you wish with snacks and goodies. The cottage is filled with little touches that make begin away from home comfortable and relaxing.
