The Studio - Seclusion by the water with your own private beach.

In an epic location at the end of a very private road is a fully self- contained art studio designed by renowned Tasmanian architects Circa Morris Nunn . Beautiful and wild, historic and sensitive to its surrounds The Studio is surrounded by Pittwater Estuary and the Coal River and when you enter the building you will be immersed in a world of art.
This very private escape is accessed by a historical cutting which at the turn of the 20th century was a railway line. It is a remote hideaway for one or two, an escape where you can be sure of not seeing another person unless they are on a boat on the estuary. Here you can completely relax and unwind on your own private beach. It is an ideal place for a romantic getaway, reflection, a creative pursuit or to tackle that project you have had in mind. Here life slows and the act of relaxing becomes its own reward.

Great view, felt relaxed the moment we walked in. You would want to open a book rather than watch TV. It was such a comfortable house with modern amenities. Decor was cool. If it wasn’t so cold, we would have loved a wade in the water. The location was perfect for where we wanted to go. Helpful recommendations from the host, we ate well! Excellent communication. Thank you for being such great hosts!

Incredible Location

Unique accommodation with wonderful facilities. We were blown away with the private location and waterfront views. At the same time being 15 mins from Richmond and 25 min drive to Hobart central. We hope to visit many more times!

A little slice of Nirvana

What a lovely cottage in a spectacular location! The Studio is everything we expected from the posting. Secluded, natural, eco and peaceful. We loved being here and waking and sleeping to the sounds of nature and surf. This is a very special place. The cottage was incredibly well stocked with everything you would need, including a well furnished chef’s kitchen. We would happily stay here again.

The property is absolutely beautiful, with amazing views. Is very private and a great place to just relax, but also close enough to the city to explore Hobart (just make sure you have access to a car)

Absolute bliss

This property exceeded expectations. From the drive through the old railway cutting to the location right on the water and the interior where we had everything we could possible need, surrounded by intriguing artworks on every wall. We wished we could stay longer - a very enjoyable stay.

Top 5 of all time and we travel constantly!

This little place is incredibly special from the moment you turn onto the dirt road to come back into it. The art inside is amazing and so intriguing! Windows everywhere! Your own private beach and privacy overall! It had everything we needed including some wallabies stopping by and other wildlife! We travel 6 months out of the year and this little place is in our top 5 all over the world!Thank you Nigel and Denise for making it so special!!

A stunning slice of beauty

It was everything we hoped for and much more! Quiet, we were lulled at night by the wind and silence. Kangaroos and other wildlife abounding. Peaceful and private and remote yet minutes from the city. It was like staying I am art gallery with all original pieces from the owner just magnificent! Totally stocked with everything you need to enjoy your time in this magical place. Pristine and untouched beauty wait for you here.

Warm inviting home.

This property is absolute beach front. Decor is second to none with quality fittings throughout. Sunrise and sunsets are an additional surprise whilst sitting on the deck with your coffee/wine. Extremely well presented!

A wonderful little house in a perfect spot. So close to the water for fishing, peaceful and serene. House was very comfortable. Check in was easy and we had everything we needed (a couple more towels would have been ideal though). Beware if you're scared of spiders that we had quite a few huntsman visitors. We don't mind them so no bother to us and they were perfectly quiet and courteous housemates. The wood fire was divine and the heat pump kept upstairs toasty for sleeping. The bed was a bit too firm for us but they do say a firm mattress is better for bad backs. Penna is a lovely spot and we didn't leave the property for the first 2 days. Caught a heap of sized flat head which we were happy about as only seem to catch undersize in the north of the state. The ones we had to throw back were only just under 35cm. A few little school sharks which we haven't seen before too.

So sad to leave

As soon as I saw The Studio on the website my heart was taken and I felt drawn to it. Our stay lived up to expectations and more. The location is magical, the private road winding through an entry cut through the rock, with wildlife grazing on the sides and then opening to a private perfect little house with a private beach area and fabulous 270 degree views. The house might look small but the amenities are more than adequate. The kitchen contains nearly all you could need and flows into a comfortable living area with a bookcase full of books and some games to pass the time, as well as a large TV. A table and chairs for two sits in the large picture window near the wood heater. The wood heater fire was especially wonderful and made our stay cost and warm. Nigel was very accommodating and taught us how to make a fire, and he cut and collected wood to set us up. The spacious bedroom area overlooking the living area has a very comfortable bed and space to move, and a reverse cycle heater. But if you get the fire just right it should keep the upstairs just right all night. There’s a door out to a huge deck which would be wonderful in warmer months. I honestly could live there and was so sad to leave. I hope I get to go back one day. Thankyou so much, Nigel and Denise.

Our stay at The Studio was outstanding - like living in a wonderful art studio. The Studio was warm, private and very welcoming in all aspects. Beautifully clean with lots of extras included. The view was spectacular out over the bay. Our Hosts had a bottle of local sparkling wine for us as a celebration of our holiday - a huge "thank you" to our Hosts. We would definitely return and recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing experience.
