We knew the moment we drove into the Riverbend Community that we wanted to have our 2nd home there. We had been searching for over a year for the perfect cabin for ourselves and to have as a vacation rental for others to enjoy. Driving though the dirt/gravel roads in Riverbend you will first see the Old Swimming Hole. Up the road and around the corner you will see Mirror Lake with its pavilion, beach, and dock for boating, fishing and swimming. Across the road is the River Walk where you can take in the beautiful Broad River including several deeper swimming hole areas and big gorgeous boulders, and a small peaceful waterfall. There are some tables down at the river to picnic at as well. Past Mirror Lake is Little Mirror Lake that also has a picnic table. The neighborhood has over 350 houses (mostly log homes) and each one has enough land that you can barely see your neighbor. The community is very wooded, and there's wildlife including deer, bobcats, foxes, bears. We do encourage leashing your dogs for their own safety.
When we are at the cabin we really get the feeling of not wanting to leave. There is much to see only 10 minutes away in Lake Lure or 15 minutes to Chimney Rock, and an hour to Asheville. The location of the cabin is perfect for zip lining, kayaking, the Tryon International Equestrian Center events, festivals (don't miss the Dirty Dancing Festival in Lake Lure in the Fall), tubing, boating, fishing, breweries, wineries, hiking, biking, horse back riding.
