- Recent guest review, January 2025. “I would move in if I could! I loved how spacious it felt for our 2 families. I stole the Garden Cottage for some quiet time and it was wonderful. The location was great too. I loved sitting on the beach and watching the waves, and the beach was so close that I could pop down any time of day or night. Whether it was watching the ever changing waves or Nobby’s lighthouse at night or the ships coming in … it was amazing! We travelled often to the Anna Bay Area to visit the Koala Sanctuary, swim with the stingrays at Irukandji Shark and Ray Sanctuary and for a camel ride on the beach. We also caught the ferry to Newcastle and spent a day at the ocean baths, finishing off with pizza at Queens Wharf. Our youngest family member even stated “This is my favourite hotel!”.

Very easy check in, home was lovely and clean, beds very comfy. Kitchen fully equipped. Very close to the beach. Not a beach view, but just a few houses down.. would recommend for anyone. We were 6 ladies... had a room each with using the cottage as well. We were all happy, would be good for a family as well...

We thought the property was lovely and really suited our groups needs and it was in a great location. There were just a couple of little things we wanted to say could have improved it to the max.The shower could do with a hanger to put our soaps etc on, also we all felt the floor in the shower was quite slippery when soapy. I have added a couple of shots from one of our arvo strolls to the river and ocean for you Our two ladies who stayed in the back flat said it really needed some sort of heating out there, they said there was cooling but no heating. As I said these were only little thing but we thought it would be good to give you feedback on it.We would certainly recommend your place to any of our friends and family :)

Thank you so much for your review and especially the photos. We will of course try to address the couple of things you mention. With regard to the Garden cottage heating, the unit in there does both heating and cooling so apologies if that was unclear. Hope to see you again, Pip

Had a problem initially with the keys into the granny flat, the wifi and the t.v., but the owner, Phillipa , sorted it out for us very quickly. The house had plenty of beds and space for the six of our group of six.Plenty of condiments as well, and coffee machine with capsules supplied.Beach is a few minutes walk and the main shops and ferry to Newcastle only a 5 minute drive.Would be happy to return to this house for another break away, and would highly recommend this to other travellers.
