Bluebird Bungalow is the perfect place to get away for rest, reflection, and recreation. It’s a cozy (three bedroom, one and a half bath) bungalow style home nestled on a picturesque hillside in the mountains of Fleetwood, North Carolina.
The House
Bluebird Bungalow is located just off Highway 221 (10 Mins from the New River, 12 mins from West Jefferson, and 25 mins from Boone). The house is accessible via a gravel road and sits about 1000 ft off the main road. The views from the multilevel deck are stunning and the house is surrounded by beautiful trees and incredible plant life. You can even pick an apple off of the apple tree during the fall or grab some wild blueberries or blackberries in the summer.
The house is oozing with character. On the main level you’ll find a completely stocked kitchen, a full bathroom, the master suite, and an open concept dining room / living space (complete with a wood burning stove). Upstairs you’ll find 2 bedrooms with a half bath in between. The owners have put a lot of personal touches into the house and you can feel it whether you are sitting at the hand-made dining table or rocking in the custom crafted cedar rocking chairs on the deck.
The multilevel deck is accessible off of the main level living space and is adjoined by a screened-in porch with comfy seating and a telescope and binoculars for incredible views of the night sky (the kind of views you just can’t find in the city limits). On the lower level deck you’ll find a 4 person hot tub and seating area with string lights for ambiance.
The house sleeps 7 comfortably. The master bedroom and front bedroom upstairs have queen beds, and the kid’s room is equipped with 2 twins + a trundle bed. The kitchen is equipped with a full sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, range/oven, tea kettle, pots, baking and pizza pans, whine corkscrew, and much more. The master bathroom is equipped with a hair dryer, plenty of towels and wash cloths, and extra toiletries (just in case you forget your own).
The hosts have 4 children so the house is also stocked with tons board games and toys (duplo blocks, a doll house, and other creative toys) for indoor fun, or you can pack the whole family up and take them down the New River (just a short drive away) in the tubes (6) and kid-sized kayaks (2) that the owners have stored at the house for some outdoor fun.
There is an iron and ironing board in the master closet and the hosts also keep toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, tissues, laundry detergent, and other consumables on site but depending on the duration of your stay, you may need replenish some of those items.
