This is the rare Mount Desert home with a private trail connecting directly to the National Park's carriage road system — bike, run, or walk straight into Acadia without ever touching a car. Perfectly positioned between the quiet luxury of Seal Harbor and the rugged charm of Acadia National Park, you're just 10 minutes from Jordan Pond House and Acadia's main attractions and only 13 minutes to Bar Harbor. Seal Harbor beach is located just a mile away where you can enjoy the best sand beach on Mound Desert Island, perfect for sea glass hunting, paddleboarding, swimming, or enjoying a beverage while you watch the sunset.

Spread out in comfort: The large great room features a beautiful wood paneled vaulted ceiling and quiet views into Acadia National Park. Unwind by the fireplace or stay cool with full AC (a rare find on the island). Challenge the family in the basement game room or give the kids their own movie night on the large screen tv. The dining room has seating for12, plus more seating at the large kitchen island. The kitchen is designed for cooking and has lots of space for multiple cooks to work together. We have outfitted the kitchen with all the essentials! If you don't want to spend your time eating indoors, take advantage of the large grill and enjoy dinner on the large deck looking into the park. The front porch is the perfect spot for a quiet cup of coffee or listening to the ocean during a storm.

A first floor full bath and queen bedroom offer a step free option. All our mattresses are new and high end, ensuring you will enjoy a great night’s sleep to recharge for your next adventure. We have extra bedding to ensure you are comfortable all year.

Whether you're here to hike, bike, or just relax within earshot of the park, Carriage Road Cottage puts you closer to Acadia than almost anywhere else on the island. Enjoy the perfect location away from it all with easy access to the highlights of Mount Desert Island.

Seal Harbor is the secret gem of Mount Desert Island, located just a quick drive to Bar Harbor, but well outside the hustle and bustle so you can escape from it all. This home is as close as you can stay to the park without camping! The great room looks back into the serene woods of Acadia and you can enjoy our private trail that takes you right to the Carriage Trail system. You can walk, ride or run to the famous Jordan Pond House and never have to fight for parking! It is also a short walk to shops in Seal Harbor, The Lighthouse restaurant and Seal Harbor Beach. Northeast Harbor is also a short drive away where you can find more quaint shops and restaurants. Seal Harbor has a stop on the Island Explorer Route for convenient access during peak season. Our home also has a Level 2 EV charger available for guest use for a small additional fee.

Great house, very well equipped as a rental. Very professional and responsive host. The house is new, so everything works and is great for a large family. I recommend this house and host. East access to Seal Harbor and surrounding areas.

The house was simply perfect...brand new, high quality construction. The beds, furniture were extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The location was perfect...backing to the carriage roads and Acadia, yet very private. I can't recommend this rental more highly!

Excellent kitchen facilities, and excellent group spaces… Really enjoyable to all be able to sit together in the living room and I’ll eat together at the dining table. We also loved being able to hike directly into the park from the back of the property.

Beautiful house, Perfect location, Clean, Well-stockedbut..Safety issues: The smoke detector from 1 bedroom had been removed, and the electrical connector was dangling from the ceiling when we arrived. When I reported this issue, host texted that it had already been reported to her by the cleaners prior to our arrival. No one came to fix it. Also the front door deadbolt was broken - which I photographed and reported to the host. It didn't retract to allow the door to close. Silver metal tape shows there was an attempt at a temporary workaround. I requested a repair.I was told a handyman would fix both things. The timeline kept changing, and no one came. I was told a locksmith would come if the handyman couldn't fix it. It didn't happen.

We feel sorry for anyone that could stay in such a beautiful place and allow their trip to be ruined by a deadbolt and a missing smoke detector! This guest did not understand our pet policy or cancellation policy prior to booking and reluctantly kept her booking when she learned she would not get a full refund. We believe this to be a retaliatory review. Two days after her arrival, the guest reported a missing smoke detector. We did not know a previous guest had removed it. We ordered a replacement immediately. There was no safety issue, as there was a another detector just outside the room. VRBO investigated her complaint and also found there was no safety issue. One of the best things about our area is that is remote, which means deliveries can take days to arrive and the smoke detector did not arrive until two days prior to the guest's checkout. This unfortunately meant that our handyman could not replace it until the day of her checkout. The guest reported she had difficulty with the deadbolt but acknowledged other members of her party were able to use it. Our handyman investigated the deadbolt and determined the issue was "user error". There was a lock on the door handle so the door could be locked even without using the deadbolt. VRBO also investigated her report and found there was no safety issue. We do not know why a small strip of tape had been placed on the lock but it was removed and the deadbolt is working properly. We would not rent to her again.

Perfect for families

We visited with three families each with a child under five. The house was extremely well equipped with high chairs, pack and plays, children's games and best of all, a basement where the kids could go be kids and adults could get a little quiet. The house is in a great location to the park, easy to get carriage trails, hikes and a short walk to seal harbor. Would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for a great location to Jordon pond and Arcadia with a large group this home is perfect! Hiking can start right out the back door as it did for our son who hiked Penobscot with pemetic. Our 6 year old Grandson really enjoyed our after dinner visits to Seal Harbor beach, great tide pools. We walked there and someone would drive the van and park to take us back. We all all enjoyed our dinner at the light house inn and restraunt very walkable. We never needed to use the basement or TVs we had an almost perfect 10 weather week for outdoor hiking and exploring. Jen was very reachable with any questions we had.

Perfect location - wish we'd booked for longer than 4 nights

The property was beautiful, brand new. It's very close to Bar Harbor, super convenient. Had fun playing ping pong and corn hole in the basement. Property has 3 bathrooms, but only the master has a connected bath. The downstairs bath was next to the room with the murphy bed, which wasn't ideal. FYI, for those of you flying in, there is NO shampoo, laundry detergent, or Keurig cups, so you must stop at the grocery. We loved our stay, and if we'd stayed longer, we would have walked more on the carriage road (or rented bikes). The carriage roads were very peaceful. The front porch has 3 rocking chairs (a great place for a cup of coffee in the morning. We would stay here again absolutely!

We just got back from our annual family vacation. The house was wonderful for 11 of us. Everything is well stocked - towels, bedding and kitchen supplies. We were happy to find an assortment of spices, oil etc which is not always the case at other rentals. The beds were comfortable. Kids loved the basement for playing and the great assortment of games. I’m a clean freak and the house was spotless upon arrival. Jen and Brian were super responsive when I txted we had no power. ( It was a neighborhood outage.). They followed up with info and checked in to be sure we had power back on. All the pics online are accurate and recent. The home is new. The access to the carriage trails makes this so worthwhile. The day we drove into Acadia to do the Jordan Trail we couldn’t find parking and ended up walking as far as if we had gone (walked) from the house. The area is stupendous. Read the guide they send to you. Chock full of good info. We learned the hard way not using the Acadia map they recommended and got lost. Acadia Park maps are poor. We all loved this trip and house! This house is amazing. It took us thirteen years to get back to Maine after our honeymoon and this house was the perfect way to do it. The house is immaculate and super comfortable with lots of board games and blankets to make it even more cozy. You can walk to the beach and relax on the covered front porch. We booked way in advance and Jen, the host, was extremely responsive and helpful to all of our questions. She also had great tips for places to stop on our way up the coast. We cannot wait to come back here and only wish it was closer!
