We can’t talk about this apartment without talking about the location. A 60-second walk takes you to the Super Morzine lift that gives access to Avoriaz and the whole of the Portes du Soleil area, the local supermarket, and boulangerie are just four minutes away and, for the nights you can’t be bothered to cook, some of the town’s best bars and restaurants are almost on your doorstep.
But there’s far more to this brand new chalet than where it is on the map. Beautifully constructed to fit in with the alpine aesthetic, it combines the most modern fixtures and fittings with the sort of cosy mountain chic that pretty much begs you to stretch out on one of the sofas, listen to your favourite tunes streamed via the Bluetooth speaker dock, and do nothing but admire the mountain views, and the with a glass of red in your hand.
Although if you do want more entertainment, you can switch on the HD TV which comes with Netflix app, for the ultimate chill-out film night. And there’s also a separate mezzanine games area kitted out with a Blu-Ray DVD player and an Xbox One, meaning no fighting over who wants to watch what.
The fully-equipped kitchen is a cook’s dream — you can imagine a michelin star chef being very at home here, pulling a tartiflette out of the Falcon range (complete with 5-ring gas hob) and bringing it triumphantly to the dining table, which easily seats eight. And, as well as the top-end cooker, there’s also a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a Nespresso machine and a dishwasher. Which means there’s no reason not to linger over another coffee after dinner, as nobody’s going to get stuck doing the washing up.
When you do slope off to bed, you’ll find yourself in one of three comfortable, timber-beamed havens, that can be made up as twins or king size beds, depending on your group. All of the bedrooms have beautiful en suite bathrooms with one sporting a sunny balcony.
Decent amounts of storage in all rooms mean ample space for stashing your stuff — although there’s a washing machine and tumble dryer if you’d rather pack light, and a ski locker and boot dryer so soggy kit doesn’t have to drip all over the apartment.
