Camels, Yellow Cabin and more! Unique ranch!

Kaleidoscope Ranch offers camels, critters, and 4 beautiful cabins located on 60 acres. The property is rolling green hills, pastures and wooded areas. Miniature horses, donkeys and Alpacas wander freely and graze right around the cabins. They love people and are always up for petting and selfies. The cabins are individually themed and totally unique. Each has a large covered porch with seating and spacious views that make you feel like you are in a world of your own. Picnic tables scatter the area if you are ready for a picnic. Fully equipped kitchens with everything you need to cook and dine, or visit restaurants in Gilmer, Hawkins or Big Sandy. Linens and towels provided. The Family room has a TV that is only connected to a DVD player, DVDs, games, and books are provided for your enjoyment. No wifi but you won't miss it, most guests say is was a welcome break from technology. Instead, you can unplug and hike with the wandering donkeys and horses. Brush the camels, Delilah loves it! Cuddle draft horses, alpacas, goats, and the mini pig. Come fish in our small pond, we have bass. This isn't your typical vacation rental house, this is an amazing experience that guests don't soon forget.

The space
This cabin boasts four full-sized beds in two lofts connected by a catwalk. The stairs are steeper and skinnier than normal so caution is advised for guests with mobility issues. It is a loft, not a second story so headspace is about 5'10" at the peak.

Guest access
Guests may access all of the property except the owner’s home, guest home, and pool area.

Other things to note
The property is very hilly so bring comfy old tennis shoes/ boots/ rain boots. It's always a good idea to pack a sweatshirt and light jacket. Extra socks and clothes are always a good plan. Don't bother dressing fancy!
Also there is no wifi available. You can truly unplug

This place is absolutely wonderful!

This was a peaceful getaway for me (the scenery is like out of a movie). And it was a wonderful experience for my 8 year old granddaughter and her mom (my granddaughter). She got to brush the camels, pet the donkeys, gather eggs and feed chickens. (Absolutely gorgeous chickens). Also got to help feed all the animals - all of the above plus horses, pigs, alpacas. It was a perfect place for us. I am 71 so didn't climb the stairs to where the beds were but I slept on the couch and it was very comfortable. Robin is just the nicest and most patient lady - allowing my great granddaughter to truly help and know what "farm" life is all about. Its a great place with a great host. Loved it! For a great experience for your kids or grandkids, or just a peaceful getaway for yourself, it is well worth the money.

Best little ranch ever!

I would highly recommend anyone with kids stay here for a few days. The Host, Robin is an incredible woman and really gets the kids involved with the animals! My 8 yo granddaughter couldn’t wait each day to help feed the animals morning and evening. There is a Pond for fishing, so many animals to brush or pet, sixty acres to wonder around on, toys, swing, fire pit and so much more. We will be back.

Second Time Here.. Amazing as Always!

This was our second visit to Kaleidoscope Ranch, but our first to the yellow cabin. We previously stayed in blue; we have a goal to make our way to each cabin eventually! The cabin was very clean and included everything we needed to stay comfortably. Robin, or “Farmer Robin” as my daughter calls her, is wonderful. She invited us to help her feed the many animals twice a day and was so patient with my kids as they helped. The mini donkeys, mini horses, and alpacas roam the property freely and were often surrounding our cabin. We were able to collect fresh eggs from the chickens to enjoy- they were delicious! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We can’t wait to come back.

Unique and Relaxing

It was very pleasant to stay at the ranch. Seeing the animals was a treat. The cabin was comfortable. Our kids enjoyed the open loft bedroom area.

lots of fun

We really enjoyed out stay- great to unplug, be outside, get to be hands on with the animals and participate with caring for animals. Would be great to see when other cabins are rented too (for those with one child) Great opportunity to make friends and kids to play. We plan to visit again. Thanks Robin

The best experience we have ever had as a family!

Ms. Dodge was an amazing host and she has a very unique property that was built on hard work, dedication and passion for animals. We enjoyed have a real life experience with all the animals, especially the camels, horses and donkeys. We loved waking up and seeing the mini horses on the porch. The feedings for the animals was quite the experience and we learned so much about the animals. My kids absolutely loved this place. Highly recommend!

Weekend getaway with 4 teens

I have 4 teenage kids. We all had a blast. Robin taught them about the animals and let my kids help feed them. We got to collect eggs from the chickens. It was great for a quick weekend getaway and a chance to reset. No wifi kept them outside, hiking, playing games, petting the animals. Norman the donkey liked to walk with us and Pickles the pony just liked to hang out and be pet. The camels have a personality of their own, so funny. The paddle boat was a blast. Even the goats and pigs were entertaining. We made a fire and had smores every night. The cabin was perfect and I listened to my kids giggle all night talking about the funny animals and how much they loved it there. The stars at night were amazing. We can't wait to go back!

Easy Living

What a treat! The cabin was delightful and clean. We enjoyed feeding and visiting with the camels and all the animals on the farm. Enjoyed the fire pit and star watching. An easy drive from the DFW metroplex.

Wonderful Host and Stay

Great place to stay in the area with a wide variety of friendly animals. The family really enjoyed our stay here and local restaurants.

Hello. Thanks for checking out Kaleidoscope Ranch. I've poured my heart into creating a unique retreat where families and friends can relax, recharge and reconnect. The property is absolutely gorgeous and you can spend time hiking, fishing or just hanging out on the porch. So much thought and hard work has gone into finishing each cabin. Each cabin has a unique animal theme and looks totally different from the others. All of my animals love interacting with guests, especially the kids. It's not uncommon for the alpacas to follow you on your hike or the donkeys to join your lunch picnic. It's my hope that when you visit you feel like you are in a different world and you can't wait to come back.
