Wonderful stay at playa del carmen/fisherman's Village

The beach front property was perfect for our group with age ranges from 23 to 80 yrs old. The beach was lovely, and pool was very nice. There were plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas by the beach and pool. The condo was clean, roomy, and had a comfortable layout. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and small appliances. The friendly staff were helpful and attentive. The host provided detailed information that made our stay exceptional!

Right on the beach!

We loved staying at this property! We don’t like big crowds and prefer to eat locally vs at an all inclusive, so this was the perfect place for us. The beach was amazing. We were right on the water. The lifeguard was nice for younger kids. The pool bar was great for smoothies every day. The condo was spacious and nicely updated. The pool was warm and not busy at all. All the shops and a grocery store are within walking distance. Our favorite restaurant was el Fagon. Beautiful property with a great view of the ocean!

Great place!

Our family loved this staying here! This place is very well maintained. The location is ideal right off the beach. Modern A/C and amenities. Exactly as described. The owner was very helpful with communication, etc. Hotel-like checkin was convenient.

Great location and venue

We love Fisherman's Village -- it is a small resort right on the sand. Swimming pool overlooking the sand and ocean, great swim up bar, and wonderful little restaurant serving different menu every day. All around, a great experience.

Another great stay at Fisherman’s Village

We had a group of 6, which was well accommodated by the unit. Kitchen was well- equipped. One patio fit 6 people comfortably and had great view of the ocean and pool. It was nice to have 3 full bathrooms and always had hot water for showers. AC worked well in the main portion of the condo and ceiling fans were nice to keep air moving. Easy walk to 5th Avenue with so many options for delicious food! Resort staff are very helpful. Host also provided thorough information about property, check in process and was easy to reach during our stay! My only suggestion would have been to have more hand towels available in the unit and better operating AC in the back unit- the AC worked, but wasn’t super cool and the fan ran constantly.

Beautiful beach, lovely resort, responsive host

The resort was the perfect size... big enough to have terrific amenities, small enough that the private beach/pool was never crowded. Resort staff was very helpful. The property was roomy with beautiful views from 2 balconies.

Great Resort for Anyone.

This property is in a guarded community and right on the beach with great food. The employees are really nice too. We had a wonderful visit. This was our 4th time to visit this resort. The room had a lot of cooking supplies & small appliances and we cooked many meals this time. If you’re looking for a place to relax with friends or family this definitely is the place.

Excellent location, clean and neat with all the necessities and then some. Only downside was small third sleeping space which was still doable. Resort staff very friendly. Owner easy to communicate with. Would stay here again.

Fabulous resort for your family

We loved Fishermans! We were familiar with the resort as we have rented many homes in Playacar. The service is phenomenal and the staff so helpful. We enjoyed the food as well. Very easy to keep track of little ones as well. Our grandsons loved the experience and we look forward to booking many vacations at Fishermans.

Family Vacay

Great location with infinity pools next to the beach. Swimup bar and restaurants are poolside. The condo itself was nice size and fully equipped - with a couple of things that could be updated, but we loved it and would return. We had a couple of issues with our unit but they were handled promptly. The condo complex/resort is perfectly located and laid out. Every staff member we encountered was a pleasure to deal with. The resort itself could also use some upgrades (lots of missing tiles in the pool and some cosmetic touches) but as mentioned we would definately return.

A great condo at a wonderful beach!

This is a fantastic place to stay! The condo is really well laid out. We had lots of room for my husband and I and our three older teens. The kitchen is well set up for cooking, and the beds and living space are very comfortable. The owner responds promptly and is very helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great Family Vacation!

We stayed for Spring Break and had the best time. The resort had so many fun activities to do as a family, kayaking, beach volleyball and water aerobics (yes water aerobics) Shout out to Alejandro!! The location was perfect, nestled off the main rd right on the beach. We were able to walk to Starbucks and the shops every day with ease. This was close enough to fifth ave without being right in the hustle of it. The unit was spacious and had everything we needed for our 7 guests (4 adults and 3 kids). We will 100% be back again!!

Great small resort

We have stayed at Fisherman’s many times. The resort is great if you like a smaller feel (which we do), but it is starting to show its age. The location can’t be beat with its 20 minute walk into town. And we always feel very safe in the neighborhood and at the resort. The apartment we stayed in was equipped with everything we needed for the week. We especially loved that a large 5-galling water jug was included in our stay so we didn’t have to haul in a case of water. The rooms are a good size and was more than adequate for our family of 5 to spread out. The larger bedrooms had ceiling fans. The smaller room (more like a large closet with a bed) did not have one, but we were able to locate a small fan in one of the bedrooms and use that for air flow in the smaller room. The apartment has two balconies and the one off the master was our favorite to sit and listen to the ocean while reading a book after we had had our fill of sun for the day. It had a nicely padded loveseat that was quite comfortable. There are several TVs in the apartment, though with so much to do outside, we never used them. But they would have been nice had we had a rainy day during our stay.

Amazing Stay at Fishermen's Once Again

I met my husband 32 years ago in Cancun and we've come to Playa del Carmen three times since then. We brought our 2 daughters (13 & 8) with us and my brother and his wife decided to join us too. We were blessed to stay in Max & Laurie's three bedroom condo. Our view overlooked the pool & beach from both the bedroom & living room decks. With 3 full bathrooms it allowed both couples and our girls to have their own bathrooms. Just prior to arrival Max emailed us a list of places to eat, grocery shop, taxi services and sites to see & do. We have stayed at Fishermen's before but not Max & Laurie's condo. We will certainly request Max Stark's condo on our next visits and recommend their condo highly. The staff are extremely helpful and kind. We had (Dominos) pizza delivered one evening for the girls while the 4 adults ate dinner at the restaurant on the property (excellent steak). There are activity directors putting together beach & pool volleyball games, kayak tours, sailing trips and Yoga for anyone interested. The close proximity to town allowed us to walk most evenings for dinner to different locations. If you or anyone you know are planning a trip to Play del Carmen look up Max Stark. Once again, Thank you Max & Laurie for sharing your home with us.

The best of all worlds...

Playa Del Carmen is amazing. And Fishermen's village is the perfect resort in Playa. I discovered Playa last year and had such a great time, I came back! Both times I've stayed in the exact same room at Fishermen's - it's great. Just north of Fishermen's village is downtown where all the restaurants, shops, street performers and bars are - well within walking distance (either by road or beach!). Fishermen's Village has all the benefits of the larger 'all inclusive' resorts without the huge crowds. I never had any issues getting beach chairs, tables at the restaurant, space in the hot tubs or time with the kayaks or sail boat. The room is clean and luxurious with an amazing ocean view from the sizable balcony. There are three bedrooms total. The master bedroom has one huge bed, there is one very small bedroom with a queen size bed (I think). You'd only sleep in there. It's too small for anything else. Then the third bedroom is huge with two beds in it. The couch is also quite comfy and can easily sleep two. The water in the shower isn't super hot all the time, but warm at least. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful though some have broken English and it takes a little work to communicate. The food in the restaurant is excellent. In short, I've had two great vacations at Fishermen's Village and highly recommend it!

BEAUTIFUL RESORT, BAD OWNER/MANAGER

PROS: the resort is right on the beach and it really is a great beach. The water is warm, not too deep, clean and very safe to swim in. The locals are kind and helpful. The resort area feels extremely safe, as does the town itself. There are great restaurants everywhere. CONS: The only issues we had was with the owner and property manager. Upon arriving in the unit, there was wet paint dripping from the ceiling on to the kitchen countertop. In the bathroom sink area, there was a cabinet door broken off of its hinges leaning against the wall. In addition, there was a broken lamp on the end table in the master bedroom, a broken bathroom toilet handle, no water pressure in the showers due to clogged shower spouts and the toilets never completely flushed. We let the owners know about these issues immediately and their response was puzzling. They accused us of leaving the sliding doors open while running the air conditioner, which in turn, created condensation which caused the paint to drip. We were also accused of opening locked drawers and cabinets and removing, among other things, kids toys (our "kids" are adults. On the fourth day, (after having reported these issues on the first day) the manager showed up and told us everything was repaired. He then informed the owners that it was us who caused the issues to happen in the first place. The owners sided with the manager and even though the toilets continued to clog, we decided it wasn't worth the aggravation to complain.

Perfect Family Vacation Spot!

While trying not to repeat the other reviewers, I give this condo 5-Stars for all the reasons they noted! We visited over a 10-day spring break in late March and had a car. Our group included the 50-something parents, with 30 yr old son & daughter-in-law, and teenage daughter - and we all had a fabulous time. The condo is set-up as explained. There are two sections: upon entry, one door leads to a large suite with two beds, lots of shelving for clothes/suitcases, etc., and a bathroom, where the adult couple stayed. It gave them their own space and privacy, which was nice. The other section leads to the main bedroom, a very small bedroom that just fits one bed, and more shelving and a large bathroom, with separate sinks. This worked ideally for my husband and I, and daughter that stayed in the small room (which could fit no more than 2 very small children used to sleeping together or one older kid). Then the unit has a kitchen, table (with 4 chairs - could use 1-2 more), and a living room - all opening onto a lovely deck with view to pool and beach. While it's not fancy, it certainly was very accommodating to use as a home base. We had breakfast, snacks, and sometimes lunch at the condo (shopped at Wal-Mart!), then generally ate out in the evening, but it has a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, and most of the appliances one might expect at home, so one could cook as much as desired. The resort itself was perfect sized for us: with ~ 65 units, it was large enough to have staff, pools, hot tub, restaurant, some organized activities, but not so big as to be crazy. Also, the resort had enough pool chairs, wonderful, shaded cabanas, etc., that I think everyone basically got what they wanted, at a very busy time of year - and no one had to put their towel out at 7 am to save their spot!!!! Also, all the staff we interacted with were super helpful and polite. We used the condo as a base to explore the area, including Tulum, Xel-Ha, zip lines, cenotes, Cozumel, as well as the 5th Avenue scene, spending a day at the resort, then a day of activity - and it was a perfect balance of vacation. We're all dreaming of how soon we can return, and I'd definitely recommend renting this condo from Max. He's in Ohio, we're in Oregon, and one always wonders how these arrangements will work out. Max responded quickly, got us the paperwork, everything was as originally set-forth - and it was an easy, hassle-free experience. Hope you get to enjoy!

Max and Laurie live right on Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio. We have six kids with one still at home (15) and 5 who are grown plus 5 grandchildren. Family members of all ages love our Mexico home.
