My family and I had unpleasant stays. It brought to our attention that on the 3rd day of our stays. We were extremely shocked that our door was wide opened when we returned to our room at about 6pm. I immediately asked the guests who stayed opposite us. She told us that she discovered the door was open at around 5pm. When she left the hotel at about 530pm. The door was still opened widely. That means the door was fully opened for at least 1 hour. We then asked the hotel manager and she explained it could be cleaner forgot to close the door. This was totally unacceptable! We then requested to change room. The manager gave us a some snacks and wine as apologized. We did not bring back the wine at all. We brought back the snacks. To my surprised. The packet of snacks was expired! We had already consumed 1 packet during our stays. And I realized that all the 3 packets of nuts are expired! Apart from this. The changed of room did not get any better. It worse! We were putting at the ground floor and the first room which opposite a luggage room! And that annoyed all of us because the door has no sound proof. Most of the time, we were all disturbed by the open and close door of the luggage room. As I am the regular traveler at least 4 times a year. I have Never had such unpleasant experiences with Expedia or any other hotel stays, not even a 3rd world countries. I would like to request for full refund! It ruined our holidays! I even have phobia about this hotel. Please look into it!

We have booked two nights for our family of 5 adults. A two bedroom units but not very spacious, but it's ok for the price which comes with simple continental breakfast served in room. It's clean and amenities was ok, except there is no in-unit washer & dryer. Basement parking was expensive at $30/night.

Embarrassing miscommunication

I am not one who normally write reviews after a stay, but occasionally I do, when I've experienced either terrific, or terrible service at a property. I initially booked a night's stay (22 May - 23 May) on behalf of my friends who were travelling, who later expressed their wishes to extend their stay for another night, so I called on Tuesday afternoon to check on the cost and the receptionist informed that I would have to pay for the extra night when I check in later that evening. I arrived between 8.30 to 9.30pm and the front desk was quiet. There was no one in queue, nor was there someone waiting to be served after I checked in. Check-in procedure was as usual. I supplied what was needed, explained the call I made and informed him that I was told to pay for the extra night upon arrival. Front desk then said cost of the extra night can be deducted directly from my credit card. I was surprised, and I asked again to be sure, to which he confirmed and said that yes it would be deducted from my card. Surprise, surprise. My friends were asked to pay the outstanding balance when they returned to the property next day and they were confused as I have assured them that the stay was paid for. It was really embarrassing and totally avoidable had the front desk on duty on Tuesday made notes in their system. Should have paid more attention to details but he was too careless.

Disappointing experience over Christmas

Reception staff were unfriendly and did not orovide any help when my group of friends had more hands than they could handle. The staff simply stood behind their desk and stared at them. They also provided wrong and misguided information on street parking, and provided wrong prices on the airport shuttle. We made a call to the receptionist for additional room key cards and wifi passwords as there were 4 of us but only 2 wifi psswords provided. Staff said okay over the phone but when we went down to the reception to collect the items, a different story was related and they simply said no additional keycard qas available. If this was so, staff could have said this over the phone. Overall unpleasant experience, only upside was its location; which can be easily discounted as there countless other hotels in the area. Will not recommend.

A comfortable stay

Everything thoughtfully laid out and presented for a comfortable stay. Only grouses were the poor tv reception and the limited wifi. We used our travel sim card to create a hotspot with a phone. Might be a big deal for business visitors, or families with kids.

Nice hotel near Sky Tower

Take note that carpark was really small and cramp, beware if you are driving a big car and it cost $25 per night. Very safe as hotel is located directly beside a police station. Stayed 3 nights and staff forgot to provide breakfast for us until the last day.

Clean hotel within walking distance to town

Room was clean and overall decently spacious. Bedroom was small though, we had to put our luggages in the living room. Washing machine with drying facilities was provided in the room, a "great to have" facilities for those who need to do some laundry while staying in. Kitchen utensils provided were sufficient but would be better if bigger cooking pots, simple dish cleaning sponge were provided. Best of all, we are able to gain free access to the nearby Les Mills -Auckland City gym. Just inform the friendly receptionist and they will inform the gym in advance.

Better value at Bianco

carpet needs cleaning. quite run down. Bianco Off Queens is many times better in terms of cleanliness, location and space in the room. Newer and yet lower rates than oaks.

Good location

Good location, within walking distance from intercity bus station and harbour. Room well equipped with a oven, a fridge with a big freezer compartment, dishwashing machine and washing machine.The Queen bed is very comfortable. Breakfast provided. Receptionist not diplomatic n unfriendly Another disappointment was taxi service to the airport which we booked for the following day at 5.15am thinking that we have an exclusive trip to the airport. The guy came 15 mins late in a van. Initially he told us that the big van was to make our journey more comfortable. After we boarded the van, he told us that he needed to fetch another 2 passengers from a nearby hotel. What annoyed us was that after fetching these 2 passengers he went back to the same apartment we stayed to fetch another 2 passengers who booked the cab at 5.45 am. The dishonesty of the driver infuriated us. If we have been advised by the receptionist that this was going to be the arrangement, we were be more prepared in such a situation and made wiser decision. Appreciate if you could take a serious view of this situation. Our stay at Auckland City Oaks would have been a pleasant one if not for the unfortunate encounter with the reception and cab service. A well budget secure hotel

The Hotel can be range between 3 and 4 stars. The room has all the needs you can ask for from a kitchenett refrig cofee maker a stove microwave etc.also a washin machine with a dryer. A noisey street in infront room a quite in the back ..it's your choice. Under beneath the hotel is a Police station so you are in a very secure area . The receptionists are a quite helpful and ask them to give a free WiFi .. the breakfast is ok but cold and you got it on the evening for morning juice banan or kiwi bread with butter and jam .. cook for yourself if you can and get the food from a mini super market just next door.. Enjoy.
