Great hotel in Malacca

The hotel was in a perfect location, and it had a fantastic decor. It was the perfect place to come back and relax after spending a say in Malacca. The breakfast was good, and the lobby is inviting.

good location as we can walk to jonker street within 5mins The staff are friendly, while the room is fairly cosy and comfy. In addition, the hotel is distinctively designed.

Hip Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Malacca!

Fantastic location surrounded by sights of Malacca! Clean and decent place to lay your head after a long day out sightseeing. Areas for improvement: Stable/reliable WiFi connection, breakfast options for vegetarians.

Would stay again

Great location, very clean, exactly as pictured. My only complaints- 1) the walls are quite thin, so you can hear your neighbors’ every move, 2) the WiFi doesn’t have a good signal and annoyingly you must refresh your access every 30 minutes. Other than these two things, it was a great stay.

Good location but noisy.

Rooms are not soundproof.can hear the slamming of doors & noises etc. The sink is outside the bathroom. Water flood in the bathroom to the toilet bowl area after every bath. Terrible. It’s the design flaw. Housekeeping is terrible, did not refill toilet roll, tissue box, sleepers etc. The windows faced a concrete wall, cleverly decorated with plastic plants. But the room looks dark.

I had a splendid stay at The Rucksack Caratel - Jonker Wing. Initially we walked to the Garden Wing, and thankfully the staff guided us the way to the Jonker Wing (only a 8-10 min walk away) and even provided their own customised map of Malacca together with a list of food places recommended. We used the list to visit many places and enjoyed the food so much. The room was amazing - comfortable and did not lack any facilities, not to mention the affordable rates. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast served was pretty good too. Highly recommended place to stay at, would stay there again if I return to Malacca.

광장에서 몇 걸음만 가면 된다. 직원들은 매우 친절하고 친근했다. 방은 깨끗하고 모든게 만족스러웠지만 에어컨 리모컨이 없고 현관문 옆에서만 조절할 수 있어서 약간 불편했다. 외부를 볼 수 없어 약간 답답하기도 한 부분을 센스있는 인테리어로 대신했다. 매우 만족스러운 호텔이었다.

Spectacular Rucksack

The stay was awesome. It was only there when I realized that the location of the hotel is almost at the center of places of interest. Just a reminder that if you want to have your room cleaned, you have to hang the clean up room tag at the door, unlike in hotels, no need to do this.

Highly recommended, especially if it’s your first visit to Melaka. Beside the superb location; the room is clean and comfortable. The hotel staff (Daniel) was super friendly and helpful!

Chic hotel room, very comfortable!

I spent a lot of time trying to find the right place in Melaka. I was going to be traveling solo for the first time and wanted a room that would be comfortable as well as a location that would be convenient. Upon checking in at Rucksack, I was greeted by a very friendly woman at reception who provided a map and made great restaurant recommendations for dinner that night. I didn't realize I would need to put down 100 Ringit deposit, so be sure to have cash handy. In terms of the hotel itself, the lobby area was slightly different than what I expected but had everything you could need - good lounge space and a delicious breakfast buffet (I enjoyed the waffles and maple syrup each morning). The room was fantastic. I felt like I was in a chic NY city boutique hotel that would cost $500 a night. The location was steps from Dutch Square, the river, and Jonker Street (though be aware that the market there only takes place on weekends). I would absolutely recommend this place!

The location is really ideal for a weekend getaway to Malacca. It is just a 3 minutes walk to Jonker Street and the Riverside. The room is cosy and the hotel staff are really friendly. The breakfast spread is not a lot, but it is simple and good. It is also very convenient to explore Malacca from the hotel's location! There is nothing not to like about this space (:
