Walking Distance to TD Ski Hill

This Tahoe Donner vacation home is two stories, 1950 square feet, with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Our home is on a very quiet street within walking distance of the Tahoe Donner Ski Hill parking lot/shuttle pick up and has a large, flat yard surrounded by trees that makes for excellent snow play in the winter and yard play or outdoor relaxing in the summer.

Although not upgraded, the home is very clean, well-maintained with newer furnishings, mountain themed art and antiques; yet it is child safe. Those who cook will enjoy the large, well-equipped kitchen and adjoining dining area that seats eight. The covered deck off the dining room is a great place to enjoy the outdoors during the spring, summer and fall or stay dry during the winter. The living room comes equipped with a curved screen TV, DVD player (and videos) and board games. There is a wood burning stove with an ample firewood supply.

The home sleeps up to seven (5-6 adults comfortably). The large master suite has a king-size bed, comfortable recliner, flat screen television/DVD, jacuzzi bath, and private balcony. The second bedroom has a single/double bunkbed (and views of the ski hill!) The third bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed. There is an attached two-car garage with kitchen access and a mudroom at the front entrance. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking please.

During the winter you are only a short drive from Tahoe Donner's well-regarded cross county skiing. North Lake Tahoe ski resorts (incl Northstar and Palisades) are all within a 20-minute drive.
In the summer enjoy hiking, mountain biking and access to Tahoe Donner member facilities including the TD golf course, Tennis Center, Equestrian Center, Donner Lake private beach and marina, and Trout Creek Recreation Center and pools. Tahoe Donner is about 10 minutes from the mountain town of Truckee, which offers all major conveniences plus great restaurants and shops.

This home is registered with the Town of Truckee for short-term rental use and guests must adhere to Town of Truckee and Tahoe Donner covenants.

Lovely, well-equipped lodging with easy access to cross-country (and downhill) skiing and sledding. We enjoyed a beautiful day of cross-country skiing and also had fun sledding at nearby Glacier Way Trailhead. There were two days of heavy snow during our stay, which was beautiful but limited some activities and caused a brief power outage one evening - fortunately the house was equipped with emergency lanterns and a wood-burning stove, as well as snow-removal service that came overnight.

Great Tahoe Retreat!

Our family stayed for a a great week over the 4th of July. The house was clean, comfortable, and had a great location. Communication was quick and check in was incredibly simple. Really nice to have three bathrooms with seven of us staying. We would absolutely rent again!

Beautiful quiet hole close to Truckee downtown

We had a great stay at Kathie and Mark’s place. They were kind and helpful from the start, and the house is in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood surrounded by trees. The kitchen was especially well-equipped with everything we needed, including utensils, tools, and spices, which made it easy to cook meals at home. We were up early most mornings for hikes in Palisades, which is just a short drive away. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay in Truckee, this is a great choice. Thank you Kathie and Mark!! We will hopefully be back next year :-)

Ski trip

This is the perfect house if you're planning to ski at tahoe donner, it is just one street over. The property is large and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen, plenty of linens and towels, and a Samsung TV with Amazon fire stick. Our kids had a great time. Would love to stay again!

Has everything you need!

Nice size house in a quiet location that is stocked with everything you would need. Backyard was filled with enough snow and the garage was stocked with stuff for snow playing. Kids were able to play safely and social distance. Definitely planning to stay here again.

Amazing family cabin

Loved our comfy stay at Kathie and Mark’s property. We have four kids 10 and younger and there were toys, DVDs, sleds, and ample space for all. We skied at Tahoe Donner and the location of the house couldn’t be better. Clear communication. The kitchen was more well-appointed than our own home :). Would definitely love to stay again!

Great house and location

This was our second stay at this house and once again it exceeded expectations. The house is equipped with everything you need for a fun family weekend in the snow. The living spaces are comfortable and cozy, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and the bedrooms all have plenty of space and comfy beds. The location couldn’t be better with a big backyard area for the kids to play in and just minutes from the ski area. We look forward to making this an annual family getaway.

Winter Wonderland

We had such a great stay at Mark and Kathie's house. They had such great communication letting us know when their plowing service would be by. Our second day at the house we had 39 inches of snow, but we could still easily walk to the ski hill then warm up by the cozy fireplace. The next day the driveway and streets were cleared in time to be the first to hit the slopes! Hosts are extremely communicative and flexible. House is wonderful and has everything you need!

Great home away from home for snow play

We had a great stay with another family! The 2 bedrooms (king and queen) for adults and the big kid room (twin/double bunk and double futon) were perfect for our two families and for the kids to be able to hang out together too. We definitely made use of the kitchen, as we cooked every meal at home to allow more play time for the kiddos. The BIG dining table comfortably seated 8, but of the course the kids preferred to eat at the coffee table in front of the TV (and loved the two little rocking chairs!). The kiddos loved having a backyard full of snow to play in. We brought our own snow toys, but the sleds and toys available in the garage are a nice touch. There were also plenty of board games and DVDs available too. The wood stove is nice to keep the home warm (with plenty of wood in the garage) though the master bedroom was pretty chilly at night - leaving the door open during the day helped though! And there are plenty of blankets around to keep you warm and cozy! We kept commenting that we wish we had more time to stay at least one more day to really enjoy ourselves properly! The 2 nights just wasn’t enough! Thank you!

Great location and management

House is nicely located on a very quiet flat street/lot just off Northwoods. House is orderly and kitchen is well stocked with spices and a small grille. Things are well maintained and clean, but finishes are definitely on the older side, especially in the kitchen. Well furnished but the living room seating and master bed are not very comfortable. Manager was very responsive and helpful when a shower door broke; he came to replace with a shower curtain the next day and was kind enough to bring a couple of bottles of nice wine. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, especially given that we had to book this place on short notice after we found our first rental had a mice infestation.

We reside in the SF Bay Area (Sonoma County). Mark is in the wine business and Kathie works for a large biotech firm. We've owned and enjoyed our Tahoe Donner property for many years and rent it on a limited basis to vacationing families as well.

We made a decision some time ago that we don't expect rental income to cover the costs and therefore don't keep it rented all the time. We'd prefer to keep wear and tear to a minimum and therefore tend to shy away from large groups, last minute discounts, etc. We try to keep the house well maintained and our rates reasonable.

We had stayed in various rentals around Tahoe Donner for many years. We love the area and wanted a home that would provide family time and memories. A place that was enjoyable in winter AND summer.

We wanted a home that was clean, comfortable, and not full of second hand furnishings. Lots of snow (house is at 6700' elevation), but without the wind of the homes on the hills or steep, winding, icy driveways.

Not only has this house has fit the bill for us in the above ways, we love the layout. Nice sized bedrooms, open kitchen to the large dining table, easy garage access, great covered deck off the back to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Our home is also located on a quieter street with several full time residents.

An additional bonus is the Tahoe Donner location. Close to Truckee, Lake Tahoe and the big resorts, yet is accessible from the 1st exit coming into Truckee. Although our home at an upper elevation, this still saves us 30 minutes both in and out (and that's without weekend traffic!!) On a Friday night or Sunday afternoon this is a non-trivial benefit..

We have several favorite Tahoe Donner amenities. During the winter, the local ski and sled hills are fun and convenient.

In the summer, we enjoy walking and hiking the awesome trials, going to both pools, boating on Donner Lake at Tahoe Donner's private beach and Marina. While not golfers, this is one reason many owners buy and live here. Having a local bar and grill and a pizzeria is terrific as well.

We often go into Truckee for shopping and restaurants (favorite Mexican restaurant in N Cal is El Toro Bravo), visit Lake Tahoe, or ski Northstar, Palisades or Sugar Bowl.
