Sobre esta propriedade

Charming Antique Cape

Featured in a recent Cape Codder as "a quintessential Cape Cod homestead," this well maintained c. 1790 home is one of the few original three-quarter Capes remaining in Truro. The house is a three minute walk from quaint downtown Truro; the Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic Ocean are both about a mile away.

The house is on a large lot with a barn and has a view of the Pamet River across the road. A private stone patio (with furniture and grill) is situated behind the house off the family room. Outside the back kitchen door is a large enclosed outdoor shower for easy beach rinsing.

The downstairs is airy with white woodwork, lots of windows, and wood floors. The large living room has a wood burning fireplace and the dining room has the original rafters exposed. The family room at the back of the house has a TV, and the kitchen is equipped with all modern amenities. Completing the downstairs is a bathroom with a tub/shower and the master bedroom with a queen-sized bed.

The upstairs is typical "old Cape" with steep eaves and wide-planked wooden floors. One upstairs bedroom contains three twin beds while the other upstairs bedroom has one twin bed. The upstairs bathroom has a bath but no shower.

Wonderful stay in Truro! Highly recommend!

Our stay in Liz's house was perfect. The house was very clean and comfortable. It is a family house very nicely decorated and very well equipped. We enjoyed the 2 living rooms as the kids were able to play in one and the growups to relax in the other one. We loved going to the Corn Hill beach which is so beautiful and only a 5 min drive away. On a rainy day we went to Provincetown which is only a 20 min drive and has so much to offer (restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream places). Liz is such a nice host and her house is so peaceful! I would definitely rent it again!

Great Family House

Our family has been coming to Truro for almost 20 years, and this is the first time that we have rented Liz's house. It has been a great experience. The house is charming and comfortable, and Liz has provided virtually everything we need for the beach, for cooking and for hanging out. The historic house is really well maintained with lovely decor and comfortable furniture. There are two living rooms, which allowed us to spend time on our own without interfering with one another when we wanted space. I have stayed in antique houses that are charming but musty. Nothing musty here. It is light and open throughout. Access to the beaches is easy, and it is a very short walk into Truro Center. The grocery store there is small and not cheap, but it has very nice products to offer. I highly recommend this house, and I fully intend to rent here again.

Peaceful Retreat

A small group of friends (five of us in total) spent Labor Day Weekend here and had a truly outstanding experience. The house is exactly as described: wonderfully charming and antique. We thought the character and decor of each room was lovely and found all of the furnishings to be comfortable and cozy. There was plenty of living space for all of us to spend some quality time together. The back patio complete with a charcoal grill was a great spot for us to have meals outdoors. We also LOVED the outdoor shower -- what a treat! The house was clean and equipped with all of the essentials, and Liz was a helpful and accommodating owner. We will definitely be returning!

Beautiful private setting - walk to Black Fish Restaurant, Local Store - Bike to Beach

A beautiful house and great property in a cool spot. The place was clean and fully equipped with linens, towels, everything you could want in the kitchen, plus a washer /dryer. The bathroom was clean and big downstairs and there was another bathroom upstairs too. The house is post and beam construction with wide plank wood floors and tons of living space. It has all of the old house charm a Cape house should have. Everything about the place was better than we had hoped for. You can walk right to Black Fish Restaurant and eat or drink at the bar. The food is fantastic. There is also a store at the end of the road with beer and wine, as well as espresso and other coffee, sandwiches, and other groceries. There was a new patio in the back of the house with a barbeque which we didn't have a chance to use, but it was a great place to sit. Overall - top notch accommodations - comfortable bed, fast Internet and great communication from the owner. Very glad it was available.

Perfect Cape Cod Getaway Home

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable 10 days in this lovely Truro home in May 2010. We found the description accurate, as well as the photos. The photo of the exterior of the house is deceiving. The house looks small but is actually quite spacious on the inside with a large, very nicely furnished living room with working wood-burning fireplace which we used every night during our May stay. There's also a formal dining room, kitchen with everything one would need for a comfortable stay, including washer/dryer and dishwasher. There's also a comfortably furnished family room with TV and wifi and with access to a patio and a barbecue. Also on the first level is a full bathroom and a bedroom with lots of closet space. Up a steep staircase - the house dates, after all, from 1790, we understand - are two more bedrooms and a bathroom. The steep staircase may be a problem for some. Also the upstairs bathroom does not have a shower but does have a tub for those who like leisurely soaks or bubble baths. One of the upstairs bedrooms is large, the other cosy. We used two of three bedrooms and found them very comfortable with good mattresses and with quilts for chilly nights. The property is well maintained and was delivered clean. Both the owner and the house's caretaker were extremely helpful with answering questions The house is private, although there is a road in front with local traffic passing by. The neighbors are not too close. There is a patio, a nice backyard, and woods behind the house. The location is perfect for those, like us, wanting to do National Seashore walks and to be fairly close (15 minute drive) to Provincetown for its shops and restaurants. We did not go to any of the beaches but these are nearby, if wanted. As for restaurants: there are dozens within a 15 minute drive of the house in Truro, Wellfleet, and Provincetown. We highly recommend this 1790 Cape Cod home for its comfort, atmosphere, and location and would love to return here again. If we had to give this home a grade, it would be an "A".

This charming three-quarter Cape was built in 1790, and is a classic example of the Cape Cod architectural style. The house has been renovated through the years, resulting in a combination of modern conveniences and graceful antique ambience. A kitchen, family room, and bathroom addition remain faithful to the old Cape architecture in featuring exposed original beams, and the kitchen counters and cabinets are made from wood taken from the walls that were removed during the construction of the addition.
My parents bought the house in 1963, and except for one year when we lived there full-time, my three siblings and I grew up spending summers in this house. Now, my husband and our four children come in the summer when we can, and rent it out when we are not using it.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

My parents chose Truro in 1963 because of its proximity to bay and ocean, its natural beauty, and its seclusion. They chose this house because of its charm as an 'old Cape'.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

The unique benefits of this house are the lovely view of the Pamet River, the proximity to Truro center, the cozy feel of a Cape-style home, and the sense of history that comes from living in a house built more than 200 years ago. I also enjoy the kitchen; my mother designed it as a 'galley kitchen', meaning everything is within reach.
